Infectious Diseases Staff Associate III

　　Columbia University Irving Medical Center, Division of Infectious Diseases has been a leader in patient care, research, and education, and its key mission is to develop the next generation of leaders in academic medicine and public health. The division supports a rigorous research program of basic science, clinical, and translational investigations including implementation science in both the hospital and community settings. The Columbia Collaborative Clinical Trials Unit (CC-CTU) in the Division of Infectious Diseases brings together a group of diverse investigators, focusing primarily on HIV prevention, care, and treatment research, COVID-19, monkeypox and other emerging pathogens research and care.

　　The Division of Infectious Diseases Clinical Trials Unit is seeking a motivated, experienced, and detail-oriented individual to support cutting edge research in infectious diseases and advance the research agenda of the clinical trials unit in the area of the epidemiology, prevention and treatment of HIV, SARS-COV-2 and emerging infections. This work will include being responsible for maintaining and expanding a large, cross-disciplinary COVID-19 and HIV databases that bring together collaborators and investigators from several departments at the medical center. The work will include interrogating and manipulating electronic health record data to answer research questions in HIV, COVID-19 and other areas of infectious diseases. This includes abstracting and cleaning data, exporting data from electronic medical record (EMR) systems, linking EMR data with data collected in Qualtrics and REDCap, and organizing and coding data for consistency. The candidate will work closely with the CTU Principal Investigator and other investigators in the ID division to design studies and data collection tools and to prepare descriptive analyses, data tables, and other analytics characterizing information from new and ongoing research efforts. Successful candidates will act as a resource for junior data analysts and investigators.

　　Specific responsibilities include:

　　Integrate data from multiple sources, develop and execute analytical plan; this includes collecting, abstracting, coding and analyzing data coming from different health information systems (including NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital electronic health records, clinical trial and research databases)Organize data, analyze, and interpret data trends and outcomes, prepare statistical and written reportsParticipate in manuscript preparation and grant submissionsDesign, implement and maintain data tracking systems. Develop systems to improve data quality across all studiesMaintain confidentiality of study participants and adhere to principles of Human Subjects Protection (HSP) and Good Clinical Practice (GCP)Perform other related duties, as directedSkills and experience: able to manage and manipulate large datasets, experience exporting and importing data for health information systems, strong analytical skills with experience in data analysis and interpretation and direct application to manuscript preparation; and software proficiency.

　　Ability to read scientific literature and adapt/design new protocols.

　　Position requires an organized and detail-oriented person with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, experience preparing data tables, excellent interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to direct and serve as a resource to more junior analysts.

　　Training: Bachelor's or more advanced degree in statistics, epidemiology, or related field with four plus years of relevant experience.

　　Software proficiency: R, Qualtrics, SAS, REDCap, Microsoft office

　　Preferred qualifications Knowledge of viral infections (specifically HIV, MPOX and SARS-CoV-2) and clinical research.

　　Proficiency or fluency in Spanish is ideal.
