Staff Accountant
This position will be based out of Birmingham, AL or Atlanta, GA. Relocation is not offered for this position.
Job Summary:
This Accountant position is responsible for performing financial accounting functions including, but not limited to the coordination of the Fixed Assets and Inventory processes, the preparation of various journal entries, completing account reconciliations, preparation of financial statements related to Fixed Assets, and maintaining accounting processes documentation.
Education and Certifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting is required
Active CPA license is a plus
Job Requirements:
5 plus years of accounting experience is preferred
Knowledge of (GAAP) is required
Experience in performing analysis on financial transactions and results is required
Ability to handle multiple projects with competing and tight deadlines with minimal supervision
Experience with MS Office (specifically Excel) is required
Experience with Oracle Cloud ERP is a plus
Detail-oriented with strong critical thinking, proactive problem-solving skills, and excellent follow through
Effective written and verbal communication skills within team and Executive management
Excellent team interpersonal and communication skills
Job Responsibilities:
Responsible for the Fixed Assets and Inventory processes
Prepare monthly accounting entries and properly maintain supporting documentation
Prepare and present financial statements related to Fixed Assets and Inventory at monthly financial review meetings with management
Perform analysis of balance sheet account reconciliations
Perform annual inventory audits at various warehouse locations
Provide accounting analysis and assistance for special projects and data requests
Maintain current documentation of accounting processes
Assist both internal and external auditors with data requests
Ensure internal controls surrounding responsibilities are adequate and functioning
