The duties of Staff Accountant include fixed asset maintenance, bank reconciliation, general ledger reconciliation, journal entries, and the preparation of monthly and year-end closings. Be prepared to dedicate a fair amount of time to producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. During the monthly close, your will also be in charge of many aspects of internal reporting. In addition, you will take part in compliance, communicate with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and review schedules for the reporting processes.
Major responsibilities
Assist in monthly financial close workbook preparation, including annual closing process
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Ad-hoc tasks and special projects, as needed
Execute month end close, journal entries, with little supervision
Help with the implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Keep up fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Ready complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Commentate on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a useful and understandable manner
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management Requirements - Strong analytical capabilities and discernment
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Strong organizational skills and a proven ability to meet deadlines
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
General familiarity with account reconciliation
Deep understanding of Coding Invoices
Solid understanding of Accounts Payable (AP)
Adeptness in Purchase Orders
Demonstrated knowledge of Vendor Management
Code Invoices experience preferred
Code Invoices experience preferred
Coding Invoices experience highly desired
Mature organizational, written and verbal communication skills
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Ability to work well in matrix organization and dealing with ambiguity
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Self-driven motivator who takes initiative on projects with a strong ability to understand and solve creative challenges
Detailed and have the ability work independently
Experience with ERP systems
