Description

We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our team located in Poughkeepsie, New York. This role primarily involves preparing and maintaining financial records to track our organization's financial activities. The successful candidate will be responsible for executing general accounting duties and assisting in the preparation of monthly financial statements.

Responsibilities:

• Perform general accounting duties and other related tasks for the organization

• Assist in the preparation of monthly balance sheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements

• Complete month-end close procedures and maintain the general ledger, assets, and liabilities

• Handle tasks such as coding invoices, setting up new accounts, reconciling accounts, and closing the monthly books

• Reconcile bank accounts monthly, verify deposits, and address inquiries from banks

• Manage accounts receivable collections and reconcile cash disbursement accounts, payroll, and customer accounts

• Verify and complete payment of invoices associated with accounts payable, ensuring payments are charged to the appropriate accounts

• Assist outside auditors by providing necessary account information and documents to perform annual audit

• File tax forms with federal, state, and local government agencies when applicable

• Coordinate with software vendor to maintain accounting software systems and recommend updates to enhance the accounting software

• Maintain knowledge of acceptable accounting practices and procedures

Requirements • Proficiency in managing Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Demonstrable experience with Bank Reconciliations

• Proficient in maintaining General Ledger

• Ability to record Journal Entries accurately

• Experience in managing Month End Close processes

• Familiarity with NetSuite accounting software

• Proficiency in Oracle financial software

• Experience in using QuickBooks for accounting tasks

• Familiarity with SAP financial software

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy

• Strong communication skills, both oral and written

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
