Description Robert Half has partnered with an esteemed organization to find a Staff Accountant to join their dynamic team. In this position, the Staff Accountant prepares journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. You'll also be responsible for various aspects of internal reporting during the monthly close. You will also participate in compliance, interact with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits, and look over schedules for the reporting processes. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. This multi-faceted, challenging long-term contract / contract opportunity is at a Grand Rapids, Michigan based company where effort is rewarded and the environment is thriving.
Your responsibilities in this role
Be responsible for account reconciliations including prepaid expenses, payroll, and other assignments
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Aid in implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Be a part of various department-wide initiatives
Conduct month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Maintain capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as needed
Assist in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Analyze and coordinate a variety of financial data, and report it in a useful and understandable manner
Create monthly statement analysis to be used for management reportings Requirements - Microsoft Excel experience highly preferred
Daily Reconciliation experience
Sales tax experience
Bank reconciliations experience
General familiarity with Microsoft Great Plains Accounting
Demonstrated knowledge of Amortization
Practical knowledge of Microsoft Great Plains Dynamics
Monthly Sales Tax experience preferred
Expertise in Monthly Bank Reconciliation
Adeptness in financial reconciliation
Proficient with spreadsheets and databases
Recent and relevant accounting experience
Attention to detail and ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Self-starter with efficient time management and organizational skills
ERP system experience

BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Notable analytical, quantitative and social skills
Commitment and abilities to meet critical business deadlines
Spreadsheet and database capabilities
Ability to thrive in a dynamic, high pressure environment, to prioritize deals and adapt to quick changes while remaining diligent
