Description Robert Half is looking to find a talented, efficient Staff Accountant to join an esteemed organization in the Non-Profit industry. Your responsibilities as Staff Accountant will include preparing journal entries, monthly and year-end closings, bank reconciliation, fixed asset maintenance, and general ledger reconciliation. Many aspects of internal reporting will be your responsibility during the monthly close. You'll also be participating in compliance, reviewing schedules for the reporting processes, and staying connected with our external auditors for quarterly reviews and annual audits. The majority of time spent in this position involves producing Financial Statements, Cash Flow projections, and Budgets. Located in the Bronx, New York area, the company offering this challenging short-term contract / temporary to hire opportunity provides a thriving environment and rewards effort.
How you will make an impact
Complete month end close, journal entries, without supervision
Offer succinct analysis on a wide variety of financial data and communicate it in a clear and concise manner
Ad-hoc reporting and special projects, as requested
Carry out fixed asset ledger, depreciation, and reconciliation
Support capital lease and monthly payment schedules
Participate in the month end, quarter end and year end closing process including monthly financial close workbook preparation
Prepare complex journal entries and account reconciliations including but not limited to cash, prepaid expenses and payroll
Take part in various department-wide initiatives
Support implementation, maintenance and adherence to internal controls and accounting procedures ensuring compliance with GAAP
Manage the design and creation of balance sheet analysis and communicate reports to management Requirements - Exemplary analytical, quantitative and social skills
Vow to meet business deadlines
Ability to work within spreadsheets and databases
Attention to detail and proven ability to follow standard procedures is a requirement
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Skilled with ERP systems
BA/BS or equivalent in Accounting, Finance or Economics
Strong organizational, written and verbal communication skills required
Working knowledge of spreadsheets and databases
Takes action on items beyond formal job responsibilities
3+ years of recent and relevant accounting experience
Strong familiarity with Adjusting Journal Entries
Journal entries experience preferred
Knowledge of accruals
Solid understanding of Microsoft Excel
