Position Summary:
The position supports ThermoFisher Scientific's senior director of government affairs, developing relations with Chinese government stakeholders and industry experts. The role also works closely with our commercial sales teams to grow our business and reputation in China.
The ideal candidate will contribute to growing ThermoFisher's business in China by helping develop business opportunities with central, provincial and local government bodies, working closely with government organizations that engage with ThermoFisher, and supporting the global government affairs team.

Essential Job Functions and Expectations:
Work very closely with China and global government relations team to develop our strategies, programs and resources plans to meet the company 's China growth priorities,
Support GA head to develop and maintain good relations with senior decision makers in Chinese government bodies relevant to ThermoFisher business, including but not limited to central government health, environment and commerce-related ministries.
·Establish opportunities for Thermo Fisher's senior leaders to communicate how we support China's long-term goals in healthcare (including precision medicine), environmental protection and food safety, And articulate how China policies could be developed to promote those goals better and accelerate the country's growth;
Monitor central, provincial and local policy changes and investment priorities, Provide advice to China leaders on business development opportunities and longer term business strategies,
Develop and maintain good relations with academia, business groups and semi-governmental research institutions, including the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences Work with commercial leaders to identify respected opinion leaders of their fields and develop programs to maintain strong ties with these experts,
Actively participate in trade and commercial bodies and various programs between China and the U.S. such as the U.S -China Business Council and AmChams to establish contacts to promote and expand Thermo Fisher business opportunities
Qualifications:
Personal attachment to our mission of enabling our customers to make China and the world healthier, cleaner and safer;
Bachelor's degree in government, communications or similar preferred
At least 8-10 years' experience in government, government affairs or a similar role
A strong willingness to learn new skills, develop executive presence and business acumen.
Ability to work with sales and marketing teams to assess business opportunities, risks and gaps;
Analytical skills including the ability to identify company strengths and align them with governments' long-term goals,
Critical thinking to highlight key opportunities and challenges and to propose solutions for business growth;
Self-directed, self-motivated and proactive.
Ability to work under pressure with a positive attitude.
Strong spoken and written English
