  The team builds high-quality products and services to ensure the health and reliability of LinkedIn at scale. Our products empower LinkedIn engineers to deliver value to members at a high velocity and without defects. We strive to prevent these defects early in the SDLC process, automating solutions to mitigate issues on behalf of engineers when possible. In addition, our metrics have high visibility across R&D and are leveraged by the lines of business to drive long-term strategy and investment in their organizations.

  As a Sr. Staff Software Engineer on the Validation Engineering team, you will be responsible for driving the technical direction and development of cutting-edge validation tooling and infrastructure in addition to shaping the strategy and vision of our organization as LinkedIn’s business and technology landscapes evolve and shift. You will work closely with engineers and partners from all parts of the company, from product to infrastructure and more.

  Responsibilities:

  •You will drive the technical roadmap to unify our many validation workflows into one consistent experience, while identifying opportunities for collaboration, standardization, and leverage across the broader tooling landscape.

  •You will design and build libraries, frameworks, and services that power the validation, mitigation, and debugging workflows necessary for all LinkedIn applications during development.

  •You will partner with other product and infrastructure teams to launch new products, influence their roadmaps, and iterate on existing solutions to build a world-class developer experience.

  •You will provide technical leadership to other members of the team and across the broader R&D Organization through championing engineering best practices, providing technical mentorship, and embodying LinkedIn’s values day-to-day.

  •You will be an advocate for both raising and upholding the standards of product health and reliability through enhanced validation.

  Basic Qualifications:

  •BA/BS Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline, or related practical experience.

  •5+ years of experience in software design, development, and algorithm related solutions

  •5+ years of experience in programming languages such as Python, Java, C/C++, C#

  •2+ years of experience in an architect or technical leadership position

  Preferred Qualifications:

  •BS and 10+ years of relevant work experience, MS and 8+ years of relevant work experience, or PhD and 6+ years of relevant work experience.

  •Experience architecting and launching large complex projects.

  •Experience with CI/CD pipelines, common deployment models and infrastructure, and various types of A/B experimentation used to safely introduce change into production environments.

  •Experience designing and building applications infrastructure, understanding application validation and debugging methodologies at scale.

  •Experience with Mobile (iOS/Android) application development and design patterns.

  •Experience with large-scale distributed systems and client-server architectures.

  •Experience with strategic planning, executing on a long term roadmap, team development and scaling processes to support business growth.

  •Experience leading by influence, formulating and driving technical strategies across various organizations.

  •Knowledge of (and a passion for) current trends and best practices in front-end architecture, including performance, stability, and usability.

  The pay range for this role is $171,000 to $280,000. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to skill set, depth of experience, certifications, and specific work location. This may be different in other locations due to differences in the cost of labor.
