Starting Rate of Pay: $34.91 / hour
As a Mechanic / Technician with FedEx Freight, you will use your heavy equipment experience and/or diesel mechanic education to maintain and repair our fleet of diesel tractors. Diesel mechanics are also responsible for trailers, forklifts, and other equipment that requires preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications, and repairs.

POSITION OVERVIEW:
To provide timely, quality, and cost-effective repair and maintenance for vehicle fleet including tractors, trailers, forklifts, and other equipment that requires preventative maintenance, troubleshooting, modifications and repairs.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

QUALIFICATIONS:
High School Diploma (or GED), preferredMinimum of five (5) years' experience performing vehicle maintenanceo A heavy-duty vehicle maintenance certificate obtained from an accredited vehicle maintenance vocational/trade school may substitute for one-year vehicle maintenance experience.o A Master ASE certification may substitute an additional two year's vehicle maintenance experience.Demonstrated competency in repair and maintenance of Brakes, Electrical, PMI, Powertrain, and Trailing Equipment requiredMedium/Heavy Truck Master ASE Certification and Class A CDL preferredMust possess proficient computer skills including maintenance programs, and diagnostic systemsMust possess in-depth knowledge of gas and diesel engines and on-board computersExperience using precision measurement instruments oxygen/acetylene equipment, and lifting devices (bottle, floor, wheel, or transmission jacks, floor cranes, etc.).Able to frequently lift components weighing approximately 110 pounds with appropriate equipment and/or assistance from another personMust possess necessary tools to perform assigned tasksValid driver's license may be required depending on work assignmentAbility to safely operate vehicles equipped with manual or automatic transmissionsAbility to enter and exit the driver's compartment of the truck and/or behind cab using normal available footholds and handholdsPaint and body work experience preferredAbility to work independently and/or as a team memberProficient written and verbal communication skillsWORKING CONDITIONS:
