  The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Sr. Manager, Operations.

  This position is responsible for the day-to-day oversight of operations for the American Heart Association Advocacy Department.

  The Sr Manager, Operations is responsible for manging a team of Operations Managers and Analysts to ensure highest and best use of funding. Leading department implementation of new Association-wide accounting system; provide outstanding budget practices to provide simplified, streamlined reporting tools related to the new system. Provide back-up to the Vice President of Business Operations and handle special projects as needed related to department and team objectives.

  Responsibilities

  Be responsible for and handle operations, such as accounting, expense reporting, procurement; and form relationships with legal, external vendors and partners, to ensure that the overall business goals are achieved.

  Develop, prepare, and distribute monthly reports on variances to project requirements for leadership. Analyze financial activities from purchasing, contract terms and vendor invoices against budget. Provide reconciliation mentorship and recommendations.

  Act as lead in program budget preparation and facilitation including communicating procedures, distributing, and completing budget templates, training, and overseeing modifications or revisions. Coordinates with leadership team for preparation and submission to funding organization or related controls.

  Facilitates vendor contract management process to ensure contracts are reviewed and approved through internal Procurement and Legal procedures. Coordinates scheduling, execution and reporting against agreed contract terms.

  Collaborate with government grants team and grants administrator to ensure all federal rules and policies are followed, and that the project is managed with efficiency, integrity and with full compliance to American Heart Association's obligations to the government. Other duties, projects, or analyses as assigned, including participation of cross functional task forces.

  Qualifications

  Bachelors Degree

  5 – 8 years of meaningful work experience at a senior level

  Comprehensive experience applying the principles and practices of accounting, financial analysis, budget analysis and general business administration

  Experience in government grant project management;

  Extensive knowledge of budgeting, financial and reporting processes with government grants

  Proficient in large-scale purchasing, budget projection and planning, variance analysis, and reconciliation requirements. Ability to analyze financial data and interpret into narrative form

  Excellent in oral and written communications. Ability to communicate with all levels of American Heart Association staff. Ability to communicate to technology and non-technology staff

  Demonstrated ability to concurrently manage multiple projects.

  Preferred Work Experience

  Three years of experience with developing and managing process (and process change) documentation

  Three years of experience working in a fast-paced, multifaceted environment. Excellent in working against deadlines to provide end product.
