Job Summary
The primary responsibility is leading the finance function related to APG's Transportation Groups and to companies' transportation operations. This will include overseeing transportation financial reporting, analyzing freight economics, and leading APG capital investment in over-the-road assets. This role will interact with multiple business units under Oldcastle APG and will work closely with senior management of APG.
Responsibilities
Lead finance function for APG's Transportation GroupsPrepare Transport Groups Monthly PandL reporting and review of financial statement and finance KPI'sReporting and analysis on third party transportation spend across all modesAssist and organize transport RFPs for third party transportationSupport Regional Transportation Managers on PandL reviews/analysis and questionsCoordinate with regional VPs of finance to update Transport Group allocations as part of budget processDevelop and implement a process to improve accuracy of fleet costing for Transportation Groups and Opco'sForecast capital needs for fleet including expansionary, replacement (life cycle), and divestiturePlan and execute capital investment for all APG company fleet assets (Masonry and Hardscapes, National Group, Barrette Outdoor)Validate capacity plans of (Transportation Groups and operating companies) for inbound and outbound power units, specialized equipment, and trailersStandardize capex process and support (including complete in many cases) the capex submissionsReview business cases for investment and divestiture of assets with Transportation Group and Operating companiesEnsure compliance with Procurement RFP awards and standardized specificationsUnderstand CARB requirements and plan vehicle replacements to meet emissions regulationsAssess driver wage economics including benchmarking to market/peers and activity pay analysisOversee safety bonus calculations and disbursements for reasonableness and accuracyReporting on Transportation savings initiatives on regular cadence (monthly, quarterly, yearly)Third party transportation analysis across all modesSupervise employees who perform financial reporting, accounting, forecasting, and budgeting dutiesProvide training and development for supporting staff and any other needs identified in the department
Requirements
BS degree in Accounting, Finance, or BusinessCPA or MBA preferred but not required5 years of relevant financial management experienceMust demonstrate ability to utilize multiple programs to analyze data and financials including but not limited to MS Office Programs, Tableau, other financial reporting programsHighly effective oral and written communication skills requiredAbility to understand and follow complex verbal and written instructionsThe ability to lead effective teams and develop direct reportsStrong financial, analytical, and problem-solving skillsBusiness acumen in private fleet and manufacturingStrong action orientation and drive for resultsProven ability to develop relationships and to work with teams as both a leader and a participantAbility to travel up to 25%
