About Sr. Manager, Carrier Strategy, Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) - Direct Fulfillment

  Description

Have you ever ordered a product on Amazon and when your order arrived, wondered how it got to you so fast? Did you ever think about where it came from and how many systems coordinated to make it happen? If so, the Amazon Global Supply Chain Optimization Technologies (SCOT) might be a fit for you. Our innovations get customers the products they want, at the right price, faster than anyone else. We build the technology that makes the magic of Amazon happen for hundreds of millions of customers around the world.

Watch this video to learn more about our organization, SCOT: http://bit.ly/amazon-scot.

The Amazon SCOT organization is expanding our Direct Fulfillment (DF) team. The Direct Fulfillment channel allows Amazon to fulfill customer orders directly from our vendor’s warehouse, and is one of the fastest growing supply channels at Amazon. Through Direct Fulfillment (a.k.a dropship), our team enables broad in-stock selection for Amazon’s customers, at the quality and speed of delivery they have come to expect.

We are looking for a Senior Manager to lead our Carrier Strategy & Program team. This team leads planning and execution for NA Direct Fulfillment’s carrier capacity, determining services needed to provide services for thousands of vendors, drawing on Third Party and Amazon Logistics (1P) capacity. As owner of NA DF’s S&OP function, you will identify and mitigate capacity risk to inform long-term capacity planning decisions.

  Key job responsibilities

Lead a team of Program Managers owning Direct Fulfillment’s relationships with 1P Carriers to ensure a high-quality order fulfillment experience for Amazon customers

Work with partners in Amazon logistics business, Amazon Procurement, and 3P Carriers to align capacity to demand, with respect to origin location, size, special handling requirements, and speed expectations

Own goals for Transportation Execution and provide visibility to key metrics through regular business reviews with internal stakeholders and Leaders (Weekly, Monthly, Quarterly Business Reviews).

Build alignment with internal and external transportation providers; negotiate and deliver incremental carrier capacity when needed to meet program volume, particularly for Prime week and Peak season

Measure quality of services delivered by 3P and 1P transportation providers. Develop mechanisms to provide visibility to performance and hold partners accountable.

Work with Direct Fulfillment colleagues in Business Development, Account Management, Product, Tech as well as Amazon internal carriers to build processes and tools to enable scalable and flexible operations and drive growth towards program goals.

Influence the vision and detailed requirements for automated solutions to enable our business to manage key levers like transit time, transit time contingencies, and carrier capacity.

The successful leader in this role will demonstrate the ability to leverage existing products and services while simultaneously exploring new offerings and business models. You will: (1) Engage senior Operations and Retail leaders around a forward-looking strategic aspiration. (2) Explicitly hold the tension between the demands of innovation and the core business. (3) Embrace the ambiguity of multiple agendas in driving CX, cost and carrier capacity sourcing strategies. You “Think Big,” seeing beyond barriers (including limitations of technology and operation capabilities in the short/medium term) and challenges to reset the bar. You thrive on setting and owning stretch goals, charting a course that is bold but rational, defensible and achievable. You use sound business judgement to make the right decisions quickly and achieve results even in the absence of complete data. As manager of multiple dependencies across partner teams, you are skilled at stakeholder management across multiple VP-organizations.
