Job Summary Job Description WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY? You will lead a technical team that manages, supports, and integrates both external vendor products and internal applications for US Wealth Management. In some instances, the team will also build in-house applications or solutions to meet a business need. You will be managing the team to collaborate with business partners to ensure that scalable technology solutions power growth, improve client experience, and enable our peer teams to be more efficient. Manage and provide leadership to the applications staff and ensure the successful completion of projects and department priorities on time, within budget and meeting quality and regulatory requirements. Manage a team of development and application specialist resources; including FTEs, contractors, and interns. Provides direction, expertise, feedback, coaching and development to build the capability of the staff and empower the team. Sets technical direction for all internal applications initiatives ensuring adherence to overall IT direction. Key contributor in the creation of technical strategy, roadmap and technical currency for all applications within portfolio. Expert consultant on technical and management direction for applications and processes within area of responsibility, with a focus on the cross-functional partnerships. Ensures departmental priorities are completed by identifying and defining details necessary for successful completion. Manages day to day allocation of resources and anticipates any staff shortages or surpluses and proactively addresses any issues and hiring needs. Monitors assigned cost center budget(s) on a recurring basis and participates in annual budget process. Adherence to all internal and external regulatory regulations with timely resolution of identified Risks or findings. Researches emerging trends/best practices and determines implications of proposed solutions on meeting business unit strategy. Identifies technical and business opportunities to take advantage of cross organizational knowledge, best practices and reusability to expedite solutions and enhance quality. 3rd party vendor relationships - acts as primary IT liaison and RBC advocate ensuring decisions/actions are in the best interest of RBC and escalates as appropriate. 3rd party vendor relationships - establishes and maintains positive relationships by effectively communicating through a variety of techniques and collaboration, including monthly partnership meetings. WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED? Must have: Bachelor's Degree in related field or equivalent experience 7 - 10+ years of technical leadership experience combined in programming, small to large-scale applications, frontend and backend engineering; utilizing various SDLC's. Experience in leading and managing technical software development teams in a highly regulated industry. Proven coding experience in COBOL and JCL with a working knowledge of DB2. Demonstrated strong team leadership and ability in written and oral communication skills, along with strong presentation skills. Ability to determine the information and communication needs of the stakeholders and project Highly organized and proven track record of managing multiple high-profile projects/initiatives in parallel. Nice-to-have: Knowledge of the securities industry, financial markets, and related terminology Master's degree in related field. Exposure to OO programming languages / frameworks. Exposure to Tax Statement and Forms creation. Exposure to Annuities and Insurance industry. Exposure to Retirements industry and Held Away accounts.
