POSITION SUMMARY:This position will be responsible for the overall deployment of finished goods inventory in all company locations. Primary responsibilities include defining the Company's inventory plan, continued improvement in inventory turns, management of excess and obsolete (E&O) inventory, controlling day-to-day inventory operations, and implementing inventory control protocols.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:* Plans, organizes, directs and controls all activities leading to proper setting of finished goods inventory levels, as well as replenishment timing and quantities, in all company locations.* Develop, in conjunction with Sales Management, forecasts of inventory activity to drive the inventory planning process.* Accountable for achieving prescribed company objectives specific to budgeted inventory dollars and achievement of targeted service levels on customer shipments.* Assists the management team in establishing inventory performance objectives and key performance indicators.* Prepares rolling forecast and inventory data along with assumed capacities and replenishment times. Through this process bottlenecks should be highlighted ahead of time and communicated to sales and manufacturing as needed so corrective action can be initiated to prevent service interruptions.* Key participant in SIOP process to ensure inventory plan aligned with Company goals.* Work with logistics and distribution personnel to ensure that replenishment activities minimize freight costs and inventory levels do not exceed space available at any facility.* Analyze excess inventory against planned production to determine if transfer of inventory is preferable to production/purchase using tools provided. Take appropriate action. Process transfer workbenches as needed.* Understand and maintain departmental metrics for Slow Moving/Excess Inventory, On Time, Inventory Turns, Late Lines, and Forecast Accuracy.QUALIFICATIONS:To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. (Equivalent pertinent experience may substitute for the education requirement.)* Ability to make existing systems work to their fullest with the flexibility to manipulate information outside the system when necessary.* Experience with spreadsheet and database technologies.* Knowledge of the principles of inventory control and operations management.* An understanding of SIOP, purchasing, scheduling, and MRP techniques.* Ability to think on a conceptual level.* APICS certification a plusOTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:* Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
