Job Summary:
Psychiatric providers employed by the University of Colorado to provide care to the inmates in the Colorado Department of Corrections (DOC) shall be responsible for offering professional psychiatric services to the inmate population in compliance with DOC Clinical Services and mental health guidelines, to include psychiatric assessment of offenders' mental health needs, prescription and management of psychiatric medicine, clinical management of offenders with mental illness, consultation with other staff regarding the mental health needs of inmates, provision of training to ancillary staff regarding psychiatric needs and issues, and assisting in the care of inmates presenting with psychiatric crises or emergencies.
Key Responsibilities:
Work with integrated care teams that include mental and physical health professionals, such as physicians, psychologists, nurses, and social workers, to provide seamless continuum of care at Colorado Department of Corrections.
Collaborate with other members of the team and evaluate their diagnosis and treatment protocols upon request to ensure the best in patient care.
Provide consultation to integrated care team members to help diagnosis, assess and treat complex behavioral health conditions in an inpatient corrections facility.
Provide input in the creation of individual patient treatment plans that incorporate multiple treatment methodologies and adjust as needed for enhanced patient response.
Diagnose mental health conditions based on patient health history, discussions with the patient and information provided from relatives and other health professionals.
Assess patients and prescribe pharmaceutical interventions, as appropriate, on an ongoing basis for treatment of behavioral, emotional, or mental disorders.
Recommend diagnostic and laboratory tests on patients to learn additional information about their physical and/or mental health, as well as their improvement over time.
Discuss treatment protocols and diagnoses with patient caregivers and advise as appropriate.
Work Location:
Hybrid – this role is eligible for a hybrid schedule of 4 days per week on campus at the DOC and as needed for in-person meetings.

Minimum Qualifications:
Applicants must meet minimum qualifications at the time of hire.
Minimum Qualifications: MD/DO, CO Physician License or eligible for a CO Physician License
Board Eligible or Certified in Psychiatry
Proficiency in telepsychiatry

$250,542
