About Sr. Infrastructure Technical Program Manager, Backbone Regional Border Deployment

  Description

  Amazon has an immediate opening for a Sr Technical Program Manager to support Network Deployment growth initiatives. The TPM will lead cross functional teams to drive the implementation and deployment of the completed designs, develop and document requirements, budgets, and project schedules.

  The ideal candidate possesses 5+ years of experience in technical program management, plus experience managing complex and large-scale and technology projects. Experience in managing networking projects and / or datacenter rollouts is essential. A Bachelor's degree is required and demonstrated ability to lead others in a technical environment. Successfully delivering aggressive project deliverables while effectively multiple competing priorities is essential. Other requirements include proficiency with MS Office, MS Excel + Access, MS Sharepoint and Project Management Methodologies.

  The successful candidate will be an exceptionally strong communicator both written and verbally, and will lead multi-discipline, highly technical project initiatives. The ideal candidate will have successfully managed multiple enterprise-scale infrastructure projects. Their experience includes datacenter networking technologies, as well as familiarity with software delivery, operating systems, server virtualization products, and datacenter automation tools.

  Candidate must be comfortable managing remote project delivery teams, and possess the ability to facilitate technical whiteboard sessions to troubleshoot project implementation issues, and remove barriers to project success. The candidate can multitask and reprioritize and effectively lead deliveries based on ever changing business needs. This candidate will be a self starter requiring little guidance, have a 'will get it done attitude' and can make decisions independently. The TPM will be fully competent in project management tools and techniques for all phases of the project lifecycle.

  Key job responsibilities

  Manage project scope & schedule.

  Maintain relationships with key stakeholders.

  Report on progress and blockers.

  Maintain data regarding projects.

  Host meetings with engineers, technicians and deployment managers.

  A day in the life

  Meeting with project teams to ensure progress and delivery timelines meet or exceed the need-by-date. Planning future projects, coordinating design and requirements discussions and driving commitment from stakeholder teams to ensure project are started and finish on time. Reviewing processes and mechanisms for improvement opportunities and driving improvement initiatives at the team and org level.

  About the team

  Backbone Regional Border TIPM team is responsible for the timely delivery of Border Networking deployments for AWS. Team members own their deliverables end-to-end within a defined geographic scope of ownership.

  We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

  Arlington, VA, USA | Herndon, VA, USA | Seattle, WA, USA

  Basic Qualifications

  Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant IT Discipline

  5+ years of project management experience

  5+ years of Data Centre and/or Network Deployment experience

  5+ years of experience in deployment of Optical line systems or Backbone Network and working in the Networking Deployment and scaling space.

  Preferred Qualifications

  Project Management Professional (PMP) certification

  Experience in the management of complex technology infrastructure projects

  Experience with and deep understanding of multiple project management methodologies.

  Familiarity with the AWS network architecture.

  Excellent multi-tasking and prioritizing skills

  Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $118,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $231,300/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
