Currently, Meijer IT is searching for a Senior Enterprise Architect to join the Digital team. The Senior Enterprise Architect plays a crucial role in directing and optimizing the organization's IT infrastructure and business operations. The role requires a deep understanding of the organization's IT services and networks, with the primary task focused on translating business vision into solutions that can be implemented by software development teams. The individual should be comfortable providing leadership and strategic-level oversight around standards and best practices.
The Senior Enterprise Architect is responsible for empowering the business strategy through alignment of architecture to the capabilities roadmap. They will have strong interpersonal skills, contributing to cross-functional communities of practice, and working with other architects to build standards and best practices for development teams. The role demands someone driven to stay up-to-date on technology and is willing to share their knowledge of new technology through leadership with the teams they support.
The role guides the organization in the selection and planning of solution implementation. The individual will be responsible for ownership of the team's long-term technological roadmap, consistently updating to meet new requirements from our business partners working within the Scaled Agile Framework.
Hybrid work required! Monday - Wednesday in office (Grand Rapids, MI), and Thursday - Friday flexible/remote days.

What You'll be Doing (Responsibilities):
Provide guidance and design standards for the architecture. Areas in scope include Business Architecture, IT Strategy Facilitation, Strategic Portfolio Development, and the Technical Architecture Domains.
Provide professional expertise, exemplifies broad technical, analytical, and communication skills and reflects extensive knowledge about industry best practices and emerging trends for Meijer.
Align Architectural Runway to SAFe Agile Development that provides the technical foundation that enables the teams to build and deliver new functionality quickly and efficiently. Provide leadership and oversight in partnering with senior management to ensure that the architecture defines and demonstrates the interoperability, scalability, and portability of applications. Strives to achieve optimum proficiency in all aspects of enterprise solutions and services inclusive of business process, end user experience, applications, databases, integrations, and infrastructure.
Collaborates with peers and solution architects to achieve strategic and operational objectives relating to the Enterprise roadmap.
Ensures alignment to security architecture standards and secure coding practices.
Provides leadership to develop and oversee production activities of architecture documentation including architecture roadmaps, foundation principles, schematics, guidelines, enterprise standards, technology roadmaps, interoperability, communications, governance, and compliance.
Develops and facilitates the implementation of architectural policies and standards, procedures, and templates for use in architectural design, service transition and sustained enterprise solution operations.
Defines and integrates culture of ownership for architecture standards and design patterns.
Analyzes overall effectiveness of architectural decisions to ensure best practices are incorporated to successfully meet the strategic goals of the company.
Apply professional expertise and skills to review/evaluate vendor proposals to determine adherence to architectural guidelines, specifications, and investment strategy.
What You Bring with You (Qualifications):
Background in computer science or a related field: A bachelor's or master's degree in computer science, software engineering, or a related field is preferred, with coursework or experience in algorithms, systems design, and related topics.
5 years of experience in software architecture or other related systems design work.
Strong knowledge of algorithms and systems design: Candidates should have a solid understanding of various algorithms, their applications, and the principles of systems design. This includes the ability to analyze complex problems, design efficient solutions, and evaluate trade-offs between different approaches.
Experience with data structures and optimization techniques: Senior Enterprise Architects should be familiar with different data structures, their use cases, and optimization techniques to improve the performance and efficiency of software systems.
Proficiency in programming languages and tools: Candidates should be proficient in multiple programming language such as Java, C#, and JavaScript.
Exposure to multiple, diverse technical configurations, technologies, and processing environments.
Strong leadership skills.
Exceptional interpersonal skills including teamwork, facilitation, and negotiation.
Excellent written and oral communications skills.
Excellent planning and organizational skills, with an ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with varying degrees of a priority.
Ability to translate business needs into technical architecture requirements.
Ability to quickly comprehend the functions and capabilities of new technology.
