Job Description
SummaryIn support of our ongoing growth, we are looking for a Senior Database Administrator with extensive experience in SQL Development and SQL Performance/Tuning. The Plex Cloud Operations department takes great pride in being a part of a continuous improvement culture, and as a data services team member, you will meaningfully contribute to operationalization of state of the art, leading edge software and adoption of open-source technologies. You will be responsible for running scalable, reliable, and secure applications while helping improve the delivery of our products. You will join a team that will ensure that issues are resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible, with minimal customer impact.
What you will do :
Implement and maintain database server and SQL Server KPI monitoring/alerting
Chart database utilization over time to identify optimal scaling opportunities
Database bottleneck identification and corrective action
Suggest modifications/optimizations (to Developers) for tuning T-SQL statements and stored procedures
In-depth query execution plan expertise
Experience using SQL Server query store for performance related analysis
Lead regular weekly performance related discussions with members of data services team
Perform post-incident customer impact analysis as well as monthly application availability metrics
Lead annual database related audit evidence gathering and response
Installing and configuring SQL server
Participating in On-Call rotations
Troubleshooting a variety of database issues
Access management
Maintaining backups and integrity checks
Participating in off hours Maintenance windows
Routine preventative maintenance
Participate in a variety of projects involving data services
Working within a global team environment or to carry out tasks as needed

Basic Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related area or equivalent years of relevant work experience

Preferred Qualifications
Typically requires 8+ years' experience managing a production system that is highly available and reliable, preferably 24/7
Experience managing Microsoft SQL server in public cloud
Experience writing complex T-SQL and SQL Server stored procedures
Proven history building automated solutions that enable resiliency and self-healing of applications
Operational experience working with data technologies and managing large volumes of data
Experience troubleshooting performance and tuning queries and stored procedures
Strong SQL skills for writing and reviewing scripts
Experience setting up backup schedules and securing data
