Description There's currently a permanent opportunity in the Construction/Contractor industry for a Senior Accountant to join a thriving, innovative company in the ISLIP, New York area. As a Senior Accountant, you will be responsible for financial statement preparation and consolidation, account analysis and reconciliations, cash flow analysis, budgets and forecasting, audit preparation, and internal control maintenance and regulatory reporting. This Senior Accountant role is based in Islip, New York with a company in the Construction/Contractor field.
Major responsibilities
Assist in coordinating quarterly reviews and testing with internal and external auditors
Partake in various department-wide initiatives
Present Balance Sheet account reconciliations
Analyze financial information and report on financial results (trends, performance metrics, benchmarks)
Work with business partners to ensure compliance with corporate accounting policies, procedures and controls and provide support on special requests
Coordinate Ad-hoc projects as necessary
Commitment to continuously improve the automation of the accounting and reporting process
Execute monthly accounting close procedures and deliverables (journal entries, reconciliations, reports) in compliance with GAAP
Prepare monthly consolidated P& L and Balance Sheet flux analysis for management reporting Requirements - Self-starter, ability to identify issues and resolve problems
Earlier experience in public accounting is highly valued
Account Balance experience preferred
Deep understanding of account reconciliation
Solid understanding of account analysis
Foundational knowledge in Accounting close process
Accounting operations experience
Ability to prioritize work and balance multiple projects and deadlines
Deep understanding of internal controls and SOX compliance
3-5 years of overall general accounting experience, ideally with Big 4 experience
Excellent written, verbal and social communication skills
BA/BS in Accounting, CPA credentials are preferred
Comfortable working in a changing and dynamic environment
Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines
Sharp, analytical thinking abilities, always seeking to draw connections and identify the "why"
Proficient in ERP systems
Observant, accurate and able to thrive in a fast-paced environment
Skill with corporate performance management (CPM) and business intelligence systems required
