DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES:Primary Responsibilities: * Develop and maintain a consultative relationship with brokers, consultants, and customers. Work with customers/client's designee (i.e. broker, consultant, financial officer, etc.) for effective strategy of product(s) application to meet account needs, resulting in sales to customers for specialty products. * Primary point of contact for external customer and broker relationships. * Primary focus on new business sales and retention for suite of Specialty Products. * Grow existing client business relationships by becoming a trusted advisor. * Calls on existing brokers or potential brokers to solicit new business. Promotes satisfactory customer/broker/consultant relations. * Builds effective relationships with brokers, consultants and group leaders to maximize sales opportunities. * Coordinates data and responds to RFPs from brokers for prospective customers based on sound analysis of client coverage, utilization, costs, and desired level of service. Assists with questions regarding functions of underwriting, rating, and proposal development. * Works with Senior Management to establish overall sales and product strategies. * Understands and meets all strategic Specialty Sales initiatives and goals, working collaboratively with management. * Collaborate with sales, finance and operational teams to address Specialty sales and account related issues. * Responsible for strategic and consultative presentations of Specialty products to prospects. * Provides professional presentations and/or open enrollments (where applicable) to a variety of audiences in various settings. * Work alongside product, underwriting, and operations to assist in the development of self-funded and fully-insured Specialty products. * Develops and makes recommendations on benefit plan designs. * Facilitate continued growth of suite of Specialty Products. * Develop tools and strategies for promoting Specialty Products. * Act as SME (subject matter expert) for suite of Specialty Products. * Develops and maintains a strong awareness of competitors' products and practices and to the extent possible learns competitive sales strategies. * Must maintain active sales license.
REQUIRED SKILLS:Qualifications: * Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or related field, or equivalent experience. * Minimum 5 years' related work experience in health insurance or related industry, to include outside sales performance, preferable in the insurance business including health, managed care products, life, and disability. * Demonstrated track record in achieving sales goals * Self-motivated, highly organized and detail oriented as well as above average problem solving, and analytical skills required * Excellent negotiation, presentation, verbal and written communication skills required. * Demonstrated ability to develop and facilitate presentations. * Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to develop and maintain strong working and business relationships. * Strong benefits consulting background, including professional sales presentations to decision makers, a successful record of developing sales leads, and a record of increasing market penetration over time. * Strong strategic and analytical skills. * Knowledge of health insurance and ancillary products, services, and administration required, as is a broad understanding of health insurance funding and rating methodologies. * Demonstrated ability to function in a high-volume, highly visible, deadline-oriented environment is essential. Flexibility in a variety of settings and ability to work under pressure. * Demonstrated ability to manage projects and customer expectations to a successful conclusion is essential. * Demonstrated experience with the MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). * Candidates must possess active PA State Accident & Health l cense or obtain within 60 days of hire into position.
