Job Summary
Under minimal supervision, ensures optimal work and charge flow for Hospitaland Physician Coding departments. Utilizes various software applications andinformation systems to perform work processes. Produces reports for dailywork assignments and productivity. Creates and maintains coding folders,late accounts, coding summaries, and charge reconciliation. Providescustomer service, timely follow-up, charge entry, and a variety ofclerical tasks. Acts as a liaison support between the Hospital and PhysicianCoding departments and other Denver Health departments
Essential Functions:
Maintain and monitor databases, work lists, and spreadsheets. Maintainoutside vendor charge system application(s). Provide feedback tomanagement on daily activity, trends, and issues. Monitor codingqueues, assign work, and coordinate any changes as needed to maintaindaily productivity requirements. Perform various clerical and technical tasksas required by departmental needs. (30%)Generates reports utilizing various databases, information systems, andreport generators. Able to analyze the data, identify problem areas, andprovide suggestions for resolution and/or process improvement. (20%)Acts as a resource for existing staff and assists in training of new staff.Develops training materials, produces documentation for processes, tracksemployee activity, vacation, work-flow, and answers inquiries. Acts asa liaison between the coding department and various other DH departments andoutside vendors to facilitate the coordination of and interaction betweenthese departments. (10%)Promotes positive interpersonal (customer) relationships with fellowemployees, physicians, patients and visitors. Treats these individualswith courtesy, dignity, empathy and respect; consistently displayscourteous and respectful verbal and non-verbal communications. (10%)Adheres to, complies with and demonstrates support for the mission andvalues of Denver Health. Supports and adheres to the Denver Health Dozen.(10%)Ensures confidentiality of patient information by creating and maintaining asecure and trusting environment by not sharing information learned on thejob, except when necessary in the performance of the job responsibilities orto improve a patient's care. Bachelor's Degree RequiredWork Experience:
4-6 years 5 years of increasing/progressive experience in ahospital/medical office setting performing a variety of duties. RequiredLicenses:
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of coding and billing process.Must have strong written and verbal communication skills, analyticalthinking, high level of computer accuracy, and organization and problemsolving skills.Ability to prioritize work activities with minimal supervision in anindividual and team setting.Easily adapt to change and ability to acquire job skills to perform routineduties and tasks.Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and ability to utilize varioussoftware applications and information systems to perform work processes.Knowledge of encoder and data abstracting software.Attention to detail and ability to demonstrate professional work behavior.
