  The Product & Data Engineering team is responsible for end to end development for Disney’s world-class consumer-facing products, including streaming platforms Disney+, Hulu, and ESPN+, and digital products & experiences across ESPN, Marvel, Disney Studios, NatGeo, and ABC News. The team drives innovation at scale for millions of consumers around the world across Apple, Android, Smart TVs, game consoles, and the web, with our platforms powering core experiences like personalization, search, messaging and data.

  This is a hands-on engineering position developing mobile and OTT applications for the Android Ecosystem in Java/Kotlin. In this role, you will work with a cross-functional team of Product Managers, Designers, Mobile/Web/Backend Engineers, and Content Creators to conceptualize and develop world-class Disney apps. Based on your experience, you will apply technical expertise to manage individual project priorities, deadlines and deliverables and will design, develop, test, deploy, maintain, and enhance software solutions. You will architect reusable solutions that are shared across all Disney Entertainment & ESPN Technology apps. You may lead others to solve complex problems and provide oversight and direction to other software engineers.

  Responsibilities:

  Coding, PR Reviews, Writing Tests

  Collaborating with QA and Automation Team

  Interacting with the Product Development team to review requirements and discuss feature development

  Basic Qualifications:

  Minimum of 3 years of related work experience

  2+ years hands-on professional development experience with Android on all OS versions

  Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Software, Electrical or Electronics Engineering, or comparable field of study, and/or equivalent work experience

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Strong understanding of OO design patterns and concepts

  A sound understanding of HTTP and REST-style web services

  Solid understanding of Android app development life cycle including Google Play and Amazon App Store compliance policies and submissions requirements

  Ability to collaborate in a small, productive development team as well as ability to work independently

  Motivated self-starter with the ability to learn and adapt to new technologies

  Excellent verbal and written communication skills; can effectively articulate complex ideas and influence others through well-reasoned explanations

  Write efficient, reliable, and maintainable code whether implementing architectural improvements, user-facing features, or fixing defects

  Troubleshoot and resolve issues, problems, and errors encountered across our various platforms

  Analyze and optimize application code for efficiency, reliability and performance

  Understand product architecture, assisting the Software Architects as necessary

  Manage multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment

  Work with moderate technical supervision and supplemental engineering support

  Embrace a highly collaborative team that rewards quality code and effective communication

  Experience with:

  A significant consumer app that is currently available in marketplace

  Android app development life cycle including Google Play and Amazon App Store compliance policies and submissions requirements

  Unit test frameworks and continuous integration systems such as JUnit 4/5, MockK, and Espresso

  The hiring range for this position in Los Angeles, California is $112,600 – $151,000 per year, in Seattle, Washington is $118,000 – $158,200 per year, in New York is $118,000 – $158,200 per year and San Francisco, California is $123,400 – $165,400 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
