Minimum qualifications:

　　Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.

　　5 years of experience with software development in one or more programming languages, and with data structures/algorithms.

　　3 years of experience testing, maintaining, or launching software products, and 1 year of experience with software design and architecture.

　　Preferred qualifications:

　　Experience working with the latest Large Language Models (LLMs).

　　Knowledge of academic research in AI, machine learning, and published papers.

　　Knowledge of social science academic research on sub-fields related to online discourse, including conflict transformation, social norms, and polarization.

　　The Conversation-AI team within Jigsaw aims to protect voices in online conversation. Our flagship product is Perspective API (http://perspectiveapi.com/) , a free API that uses machine learning to identify toxicity in online comments. We create innovative user experiences to explore how our models can support better conversations. We also publish original research to advance the state-of-the-art in using ML to support good online discussion.

　　We are evolving beyond identifying toxicity towards holistically supporting healthier online discourse by bridging diverse perspectives and fostering community connection. The team will work with content-based bridging algorithms and explore how to incorporate more traditional forms of bridging to a variety of online spaces.

　　In this role, you will bridge the domains of engineering and social science research, proficient enough in each to both support the development of models with the Perspective team and to work with Jigsaw's social science team to conduct research that advances the field of bridging algorithms and understands their impact on people and conversations. You have experience in software engineering skills, machine learning and social sciences, especially concepts of social norms and polarization, and are comfortable translating between the research community and technical communities.

　　The US base salary range for this full-time position is $157,000-$235,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. 　　Build on the latest LLM technology to enable new Perspective API features and improvements such as developing new bridging-focused models.

　　Work across the ML development life-cycle including leading data annotation processes, training models, evaluating, measuring and mitigating for bias, and meeting production latency and serving requirements.

　　Conduct research for society and Google such as being integrated as part of a deployed product or service, resulting in co-authorship of a paper or patent.

　　Iterate on experimental approaches that apply mixed methods from computational and social sciences to conduct and scale studies in collaboration with Google researchers, designers, engineers, and product managers.

　　Communicate research findings to diverse audiences.
