OverviewThis is a part-time, non-benefited, ACA variable position. This individual will provide math tutoring to students with math learning challenges. Tutoring will be mainly for, but not limited to, MATH 0990, MATH 0995, MATH 1050, MATH 1051, and STAT 1040/1045.
The position is located within the USU Southwest Region (in or near the communities of Beaver, Bicknell, Cedar City, Delta, Ephraim, Junction, Kanab, Nephi, Panguitch, Richfield, and St. George).
ResponsibilitiesThis individual will plan for and conduct scheduled appointments to help students understand and complete their math coursework successfully. To accomplish this, the math tutor will assist students in:
Gaining an understanding of math concepts, formulas, and equations, and developing the skills to find answers for themselves.Understanding and completing homework assignments correctly.Reviewing and preparing for exams.This person will create a comfortable, respectful learning environment during sessions, promoting active learning.Qualifications
Must have successfully completed college math courses and be able to demonstrate proficiency at that level.Must be able to provide multiple methods of assistance to meet individual student needs.Must demonstrate professionalism, be personable and possess good communication skills.Must be independent, dependable and punctual.Must exhibit patience in assisting students.Must understand and adhere to the Student Code of Conduct.
