About Software Development Manager, AWS Kumo

  Description

  At AWS, we use Artificial Intelligence to be able to identify every need of a customer across all AWS services before they have to tell us about it, and then find and seamlessly connect them to the most appropriate resolution for their need, eventually fulfilling the vision of a self-healing cloud.

  Within AWS lies a key team- AWS Kumo. Kumo is the software engineering organization that provides the technology, software solutions, and intellectual horsepower necessary to provide customers with an unparalleled support experience. We build everything necessary to make sure our customers are operating efficiently and have a world-class experience when they interact with AWS Support. Our external customers are ALL AWS customers, and our internal customers are support engineers and technical account managers. This position is within the Kumo organization.   We are searching for an innovative, passionate, and customer-focused Software Development Manager with a track record of delivery. It is a role in the Automation and Recommendations space, where you will come in and will (1) establish the vision, (2) build the roadmap, and (3) build a team of scientists and engineers to deliver on this vision.

  Key job responsibilities

  Build a world-class team by hiring, coaching and developing exceptional talent, cultivating pragmatic decision-making, and leveraging your technical expertise to constantly raise the bar

  Think big and working with leadership team, business stakeholders and engineering and science teams to define vision, strategy and requirements

  Deliver results by leading a cross-functional team of software engineers and scientists to driving execution of programs from design to rollout

  Communicate effectively with senior management as well as with colleagues from business, engineering, and science backgrounds

  Own all business and operational metrics for your team’s software

  We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

  Bellevue, WA, USA | Seattle, WA, USA

  Basic Qualifications

  3+ years of engineering team management experience

  7+ years of working directly within engineering teams experience

  3+ years of designing or architecting (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi tier web services experience

  Bachelor's degree, or CSSLP (Certified Secure Software Lifecycle Professional)

  Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/networks development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and livesite operations

  Experience partnering with product or program management teams

  Experience in recruiting, hiring, mentoring/coaching and managing teams of Software Engineers to improve their skills, and make them more effective, product software engineers

  Preferred Qualifications

  Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $148,000/year in our lowest geographic market up to $287,700/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
