  When and where is this opportunity?     

  Position located in Brookings, SD or Rapid City, SD. This position is open to candidates eligible to work in the U.S.

  If your university quarter/semester doesn’t end until after these dates, we may consider an alternate schedule. 

  What will work look like for me?

  We will expose you to multiple facets of the embedded world. You will experience a professional business environment where you can sharpen your problem solving and testing skills, grow in your design abilities and processes. We will do our best to prepare you for full-time employment, so we can confidently encourage you to apply for our positions following the internship. 

    

  You will also work with a team of developers and professionals to design, develop, and deliver software solutions to various Daktronics customers and business groups. You will primarily focus on:  

  Application Development:  Enhancement and maintenance of our current applications and solutions along with design and development of new software applications using Linux and/or Microsoft Visual Studio.  

  Programming Languages:  Develop and support applications using C++, C, and/or C# programming languages.  

  Team Collaboration:  Work within a larger development team to solve problems.  

  Testing and Documentation:  Write unit tests for existing code along with assisting in the development of software product requirements and design documentation.  

  Perform other duties as assigned or needed to support the efforts of Daktronics.

  What is the pay and perks?

  The typical hiring pay for this position is $24.00 to $26.00 per hour. The actual offer will consider a wide range of factors, including relevant education, experience, geographic location, and applicable local legislation.

   

  We also offer financial Relocation Assistance for positions that require placement in a specific location.

  Qualifications

  Academic Requirements:   

  Candidate must be enrolled as a full-time student and registered for at least 12 credits (undergraduate) or 9 credits (graduate) at the time of application. 

  Preferred candidate would be pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or related field.   

  Preferred candidate would be of at least junior status in school.   

  Students who will start the internship the semester immediately following undergraduate bachelor’s degree graduation will also be considered.  

  Ability to take a semester off from school to complete the internship, if not a graduate.  

  Ability to work through the Cooperative Education/Internship Program at your accredited university and Faculty Coordinator to arrange for credit while participating in this 7-month internship, as needed. 

  Only strong academic performers will be considered. Must maintain an acceptable GPA, preference to 3.0 or greater.  

  Unofficial transcripts or web transcripts must be submitted with application to be considered.   

  Preferred Experiences:   

  Object oriented programming knowledge is required.

  Programming knowledge in at least one of the following: "C", "C++", or “C#” preferred.   

  Preferred courses related to object-oriented design and data structures.  

  Other Requirements:      

  Candidates must be available to work 40 hours per week for the duration of internship. 

  Good oral and written communication skills, good organizational skills, self-motivation.  

  Good problem solving and critical thinking skills.   

  Ability to work effectively as a member of a team.  

  Dedication and desire for quality performance.   

  Fluent in English, both written and verbal.    

  Applicants must be 18 years of age or older.
