  Our team is looking for a Social Worker to join an innovative partnership to provide a continuum of care to individuals and families impacted by violence. This unique position is rooted in a collaborative effort to between the Bowdoin Street Health Center and the Center for Violence Prevention and Recovery (BIDMC.org/violenceprevention), at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, as well as other community partners and the City of Boston's Public Health Commission.

  This Social Worker will have a meaningful position that places you at the heart of the Bowdoin-Geneva community, with the support of and in connection with, an academic medical center. The ideal candidate for this position will bring an interest in equity-based and trauma-informed approaches to violence prevention and healing.

  Under clinical supervision, the Social Worker is responsible for psychosocial screening, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up for patients and families in assigned patient population. This person collaborates with Physicians, Nurses, internal and external Case Managers, community agencies, and other health care professionals to implement safe and effective patient care. Reports to the Social Work Manager / Manager of clinical service area.

  Job Description:

  Essential Responsibilities: ​

  A member of the BSHC Neighborhood Trauma Team Network (NTT), in the Bowdoin/Geneva/ Four Corners area, this Clinician will work with the Family Partner/Advocate to offer:

  Personalized services as soon as possible to individuals who may have been affected. By an incident of community violence.

  Outreach and community engagement in the location of the incident to find other individuals who are affected.

  Behavioral health and related support services to community members of all ages who are vulnerable to lasting adverse effects of exposure to violence, this may include healing groups or community meetings.

  Coordination of services with BPHC’s NTT Network providers, protocols and guidelines.

  CVPR Acute Services Response to victims of interpersonal violence (domestic and sexual violence, human trafficking and community violence, and homicide).

  Provide on-call coverage to respond to patients impacted by interpersonal violence within the hospital with crisis intervention, advocacy, and resources.

  Support the CVPR Team by Responding to Community Violence survivors and providing follow-up for those survivors and connections to community resources.

  Complete documentation as required by CVPR and BSHC policies and practice as well as hospital standards of documentation.

  Work with BSHC, CVPR, NTT, and other community partners to create and deliver primary and secondary violence prevention strategies that address root causes of violence and promote equity.

  Prevention strategies may include but are not limited to, outreach, community education, provider training, legislative and systems advocacy, promoting peer-to-peer support and healing, and survivor leadership development.

  This Clinician will report to the Team Lead for the HSSP/CV Project and attend the following meetings for support and coordination.

  Weekly CVPR Team meetings and weekly supervision with the Team Lead for Community Violence Support Services Project.

  BSHC, NTT, incident debriefs variable and up to 10 hours per week

  Attend and participate in Monthly Boston Hospital Violence Intervention Collaboration

  Attend and participate in HAVI meetings and/or conferences for outreach and professional development

  Perform other duties as assigned

  Required Qualifications:

  Master's degree required in Social Work required

  Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) required or

  New graduates and out of state MSW prepared Social Workers are expected to obtain Massachusetts license within 3-6 months of hire date. Will need to work under the direct clinical supervision by a licensed social worker and have all notes co-signed until license has been obtained.

  0-1 years related work experience required

  Experience with computer systems required, including web based applications and some Microsoft Office applications which may include Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint or Access.

  Preferred Qualifications:

  Health care and/or human service experience

  LICSW preferred

  Competencies:

  Written Communications: Ability to summarize and communicate in English moderately complex information in varied written formats to internal and external customers.

  Oral Communications: Ability to comprehend and communicate complex verbal information in English to medical center staff, patients, families and external customers.

  Knowledge: Ability to demonstrate full working knowledge of standard concepts, practices, procedures and policies with the ability to use them in varied situations.

  Team Work: Ability to act as a team leader for small projects or work groups, creating a collaborative and respectful team environment and improving workflows. Results may impact the operations of one or more departments.

  Customer Service: Ability to provide a high level of customer service to patients, visitors, staff and external customers in a professional, service-oriented, respectful manner using skills in active listening and problem solving. Ability to remain calm in stressful situations.

  Age based Competencies:

  Employees in this job must be competent to provide patient care to the following age groups: Young adult: 16-30 years, Middle Age: 30 - 60 years, Elderly: 60 -.Physical Nature of the Job:

  Light work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force frequently to move objects. Some elements of the job are sedentary, but the employee will be required to stand for periods of time or move through out the hospital campusFLSA Status:
