The Position
Social Services Program Specialists perform administrative and professional work in conjunction with the administration of statewide public assistance, medical assistance, or social services programs.
This opening is for a Social Services Program Specialist 1 (Underfill for Social Services Program Specialist 2) within the Division of Health Care Financing and Policy (DHCFP) Medical Benefits Coverage unit, in Carson City NV. This position is responsible for the development, implementation, management, and evaluation of the medical coverage as outlined in our State Plan, Alternative Benefit Plan, and waivers. The incumbent will be required to read, interpret, and apply federal regulations, Nevada statutes, as well as the DHCFP Medicaid Services Manual. The incumbent will be required to work with contractors, providers, and other stakeholders to perform education and outreach on benefit coverage and procedures and is required to manage tasks in an independent manner. Advancement to the next level in the series may occur upon meeting minimum qualifications, satisfactory job performance, and with the recommendation of the appointing authority.

To Qualify:
In order to be qualified, you must meet the following requirements:
Education and Experience (Minimum Qualifications)
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a field of study pertinent to the program assignment and two years of paraprofessional experience which included providing social services, medical assistance programs services, or health care services to the public and required the application of regulations, laws, policies and procedures in making determinations; OR two years of experience as a Family Services Specialist II in Nevada State service; OR an equivalent combination of education and experience as described above.Special Requirements
A State of Nevada/FBI background check will be required of the selected applicant.The Examination
