Basic Purpose:
The Social Services Clerk is responsible for ensuring that all Social Services programs for the Lodi Corps are run according to Salvation Army Mission and Policy and agency contract guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Financial Assistance (PG&E & CARE – City of Lodi)
+ + Provide client assistance, including screening for client eligibility as per the contracts including verification of unexpected expense.
Maintain all client records according to contract guidelines and input into WellSky.
Notify the Utility Company of any/all customers approved for and/or removed from participation in these programs.
Process all month end paperwork and send to corresponding Utility Companies.
Non-Financial Social Service Assistance
Screening client eligibility for all Social Service programs, ensuring clients provide all required documents, including valid ID and verification of need and housing.Client data entry into WellSky and making client Sally Cards at time of visit.
Assist in food pantry checking clients in computer for food pick-up as well as supervising pre-programmers/volunteers and assisting with food donations that come in during the week when food pantry staff is not available.
Seasonal Assistance Programs – Student Backpacks & Christmas Assistance
Work with Corps Officer in reviewing client applications and documents required for seasonal assistance, scheduling assistance pick-up and input into WellSky seasonal assistance program database.Assist Corps Officer in coordinating with other agencies and their seasonal assistance programs to ensure there are no duplications.
Assist Corps Officer with coordinating donations from local businesses, agencies and churches.
Assist Corps Officer to coordinate delivery and pick-up of collection barrels for donations towards seasonal assistance programs.
Assist Corps Officer with the processing and preparation of supplies and donations for seasonal assistance clients.
Assist Corps Officer with coordination of volunteers for seasonal assistance client pick-ups.
Volunteer and Community Service
Process all paperwork with appropriate agencies and DHQ regarding volunteer and community service workers.Track and process all paperwork for volunteer and Community Service Workers, including background paperwork to DHQ prior to work being started.
Answer phones and client and donor questions when the receptionist is not available.
Update office forms, bulletins boards, flyers and announcements.
Collect monetary donations when the Business Administrator or receptionist is not available.
Assist Corps Officer and Business Administrator with Grant Reports
Ensure the building is securely closed or opened for business as needed.
Other related duties as assigned by Corps Officers and/or the Business Administrator.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Other Qualifications/Requirements
Proficiently speak, read and write both English and Spanish preferred.
Must be 21 years of age or older.
2 years related experience and/or training in a social service setting OR equivalent combination of education and experience preferred.
Knowledge of current community challenges and opportunities relating to the mission of the organization preferred.
Ability to work independently and without daily immediate supervision.
Ability to handle a variety of assignments and timelines.
Must be able to maintain confidentiality of sensitive materials and information.
Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), email and database software.
Must possess a Valid CA Driver License and ability to pass TSA Decision Driving test.

Some travel may be required.

Working Conditions
Usually work in an office environment, but the mission of the organization may sometimes require them to work in non-standard or traditional workplaces such as public spaces and outdoor areas.
Work a standard workweek, but additionally may work evenings, weekends, to accommodate activities such as Corps Fundraisers and representing the organization at local public events.
