THIS POSITION IS CONTINGENT UPON BID AWARD
The Site Safety Health officer is responsible for the safety and health management of all site and subcontracted work activities to ensure all work is completed safely, the work environment is safe to all employees and unsafe situations are identified and corrected.
Responsibilities
Develop and implement safety procedures and policies. Write, update and enforce the Safety Plans as needed.
Required to be onsite daily to administer safety audits/reports/daily instruction.
Perform and document safety audits reporting findings to Project Manager
Investigate accidents and ensure any needed corrective actions are completed.
Implement standard practices to align work activities with OSHA General Industry and Construction Standards. Able to make site adjustments and instruct all personnel on proper procedures as well as set expectations in accordance with a Safety Plan.
Ensure project complies with all safety regulations stated in CDC requirements, 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, as well as state and or contractual standards, to avoid fines, civil penalties or criminal prosecution.
Develop activity hazard analysis (AHAs) to support processes to mitigate risk and accidents, claims management, and development of standard operating procedures.
Perform safety surveys (e.g., noise surveys, air monitoring, time and motion studies, etc.) to support personal protective equipment (PPE) policies.
Develop, implement and maintain safety programs and documentation, including the following: medical surveillance, respiratory protection, confined space entry, hazardous energy (lockout/tagout), scaffolding, fall protection, ergonomics, personal protective equipment, hearing conservation, fire prevention, accident investigation and reporting hazard communication, electrical safety general procedures.

Qualifications
High School diploma or GED.
Minimum ten (10) years experience in preparing and enforcing a safety program
minimum five (5) five years of experience in construction/demolition
Minimum thirty (30) hour OSHA safety class or equivalent within the last five (5) years
Possess and maintain twenty-four (24) hours of safety training per year in the past five (5) years.
Possess a valid driver’s license
40 Hr. EM 385 1-1 Certification preferred
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Superior analytical ability and mature judgment
Knowledge of accident investigation and reporting principles and practices
Knowledge of Government contracting terminology and requirements
Knowledge of pertinent safety regulations and requirements necessary to perform the contractual obligations at this project location.
Knowledge of OSHA General Industry and/or Construction standards, National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), Department of Transportation (DOT) hazmat, and applicable environmental regulations
Ability to think clearly and decisively in emergency situations and lead others to perform under extreme conditions.
Skilled in Microsoft programs, including but not limited to: Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Access or equivalent software programs.
Effective written and verbal communication skills
Ability to effectively interact with representatives from government agencies, contractors, suppliers, and corporate management.
Ability to work with little or no supervision, be self-motivated and be flexible to changing priorities.
Ability to interpret and implement complex regulatory standards into site operations.
Ability to promote teamwork and cooperation across all levels to carry out regulatory compliance in accordance with contract requirements.
Ability to conduct business in a professional and ethical manner and integrate well into the project team.
