FPP SRE Wintel Role:
Technical Skills
Working knowledge of Windows development, Windows API, DLL, Windows Services, WCF, Windows Device Manager, REST API
Programming experience including C, C++, Java, .NET, distributed version control system such as GIT
Ability to automate tasks using PowerShell, Shell Scripting, Python, Perl
Knowledge of System Administration and Storage including network storage (SAN, NFS, NAS)
Knowledge of network fundamentals such as IP, VCN, Ethernet, RoCE, TCP/IP, routing, HTTPS, DNS, load balancer, etc.
Experience automating, troubleshooting and management of operating systems such as Wintel/Linux based infrastructure
Ensures system security with understanding of Infrastructure Network Security, SSH, Firewall
Knowledge of Oracle products is a plus :
Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI)
Exadata, Real Application Clusters, Oracle databases and their respective patching processes
Fleet Patching and Provisioning (FPP) a.k.a Rapid Home Provisioning (RHP), rhpctl
Oracle RAC database and Grid Infrastructure
Oracle Database Administration (DBA) tasks and concepts such as gold image, patching, upgrade, migration, RU, RUR, BP, rolling, non-rolling, opatch, datapatch
Soft Skills
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to work independently and as a part of a global virtual team environment
Preferred Qualifications
Cloud services management, monitoring, troubleshooting and debugging experience
Experience with build automation, continuous integration, or continuous deployment tools (CI/CD)
Experience with containerization technologies and modern tools such as Docker, Github, Jira, Teamcity, and Bitbucket
Experience with Virtualization Infrastructures such as KVM and XEN
Language Proficiency
Must-have: Excellent written and spoken English communication skills.
Spanish skills is a plus
Responsibilities
Work with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE) team on the shared full stack ownership of a collection of services and/or technology areas. Understand the end-to-end configuration, technical dependencies, and overall behavioral characteristics of production services. Responsible for the design and delivery of the mission critical stack, with focus on security, resiliency, scale, and performance. Authority for end-to-end performance and operability. Partner with development teams in defining and implementing improvements in service architecture. Articulate technical characteristics of services and technology areas and guide Development Teams to engineer and add premier capabilities to the Oracle Cloud service portfolio. Understand and communicate the scale, capacity, security, performance attributes, and requirements of the service and technology stack. Demonstrate clear understanding of automation and orchestration principles. Act as ultimate escalation point for complex or critical issues that have not yet been documented as Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). Utilize a deep understanding of service topology and their dependencies required to troubleshoot issues and define mitigations. Understand and explain the affect of product architecture decisions on distributed systems. Professional curiosity and a desire to a develop deep understanding of services and technologies.
