Serco is a leading support contractor to the US Navy and as such we work directly for PMS 515, part of the Program Engineering Office’s effort to procure and deliver the finest ships for our sailors and our country. Serco supports the US Navy in acquisition of the Navy’s newest Frigate by reviewing engineering products and monitoring every phase of the production efforts at the Shipbuilder’s Facility in Marinette, Wisconsin.
You will report to some of the most experienced shipbuilders around, share their knowledge and insight, and have the opportunity to excel. You will be part of a large contingent of Serco and Navy personnel on-site to support the ship construction effort. You will be exposed to every aspect of shipbuilding and share in the wealth of knowledge. You will work in the busy industrial atmosphere of shipyard involved in the serial production of the Navy’s newest warship. Daily interfaces will be with shipyard personnel at all levels, other Serco SMEs, Analyst and Engineers, SUPSHIP Bath personnel at all levels, Program Office (PMS-515) at all levels and visiting DOD personnel.
This position is contingent upon your ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret level clearance post-employment.
As a Shipyard Scheduler - Planner you will be collecting a variety of data and preparing presentable information for higher levels of management up to and including the Navy’s Program Manager. Data includes but not limited to:
Status of overall production progress.
Comparative evaluations of shipyard schedules to actual production progress.
Anticipated challenges to production based on personal observation, experience, and skills.
Evaluation of shipyard’s revised schedules and interfaces across platforms under construction to identify potential conflicts.
In this role, you will:
Contribute by helping to ensure that delays are minimized during ship construction and between multiple ship builds.
Assist with Serco’s maintenance of new construction records and data keeping.
Maintain accurate and up to date tracking records of overall progress on multiple platforms.
Serve as a liaison between the Serco on-site team and Schedule Evaluators from the Navy.
Use experience, personal observation, and knowledge to identify potential delays and schedule remedies.
Prepare regular reports to the Task Lead informing of accomplishments, challenges, and suggested improvements in both the shipyard’s production efforts and schedules.
Maintain a general awareness of ships under construction to gain a working knowledge of events in progress.
Be adaptable to changes in scheduling and ERP software in use by the shipyard.
Qualifications
To be successful in this role, you will have:
Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret Clearance post hire per contract requirements.
Bachelor's degree with 5 to 7 years' experience.
Experience with a variety of software applications with Mid-level to expert of Primavera P6 scheduling software. Must be able to manipulate views in these software suites to adequately see predecessor and successor activities.
Mid-level and above experience in using Microsoft Suite Tools.
Working knowledge of Excel.
Experience working with military programs (preferred).
Working knowledge of shipyards and shipbuilding activities.
Working understanding of physical progressing.
Related shipyard experiences in journeyman, management, estimating and progressing will be considered.
Ability to extract pertinent data from the IMS software.
Experience collecting data for incorporation into presentations.
The ability to use multiple programs on a computer, access information and conduct product searches.
Up to 10% travel may be required for this role.
Additional desired experience and skills:
Experienced trade supervisor or progressman preferred.
5-10 years’ experience in Progressing, estimating and/or supervision in machinery trades.
Experience in data keeping during a major ship construction program.
Desire to learn and excel.
