Summary ACCESS TO MEDICAL AND DENTAL CARE IN JAPAN IS EXTREMELY LIMITED. Please see Additional Information section below. You will serve as a SEXUAL ASSAULT PREVENTION AND RESPONSE VICTIM ADVOCATE in the Office of Force Resiliency of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION IWAKUNI. Responsibilities You will perform essential victim service, advocacy, and provide a non-clinical response that is trauma-informed, gender-responsive, culturally responsive, and recovery-oriented, and without prejudice to adult victims of sexual assault. You will conduct mandated initial risk screening; safety assessment and planning; and coordinate medical, legal, and civilian and military law enforcement resources to address immediate risk, safety, and supportive service needs. You will ensure victims of sexual assault receive information and support during administrative, medical, investigative and legal procedures to e support victim self-determination and informed decision making. You will provide assistance to victims in securing medical treatment for physical and psychological injuries; safe shelter; protective orders; and any other services identified and requested by the victim. You will inform victims of the resources available to report instances of sexual assault related retaliation, reprisal, ostracism, maltreatment, sexual harassment, or to request a transfer. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications GS-11: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector providing sexual assault advocacy services; developing and implementing crisis plan of actions and sexual assault assistance plans; assisting with developing and coordinating command SAPR prevention and awareness campaigns or events; and conducting education and training sexual assault workshops/seminars. GS-09: In addition to the Basic Requirements for this position, your resume must also demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-07 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector assisting with providing sexual assault advocacy services; assisting with developing and coordinating command SAPR prevention and awareness campaigns or events; and conducting education and training sexual assault workshops/seminars. Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. Conditions of Employment continued: As a condition of employment, incumbent must be able to work in an on-call or rotational basis. The on-call or rotational status requires varied work hours, to include a requirement to be available 24/7, to respond to the following, but not limited to: calls received via the helpline, from military/civilian law enforcement, from treatment facilities or local hospitals. To receive priority consideration, the FPL must be the same grade level or equivalent of the retained grade or the grade held immediately prior to separation. If selected below the full performance level, you may be noncompetitively promoted to the next higher grade level after meeting all regulatory requirements, and upon the recommendation of management. Education Applicants must meet the following Basic Requirements of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualifications Standards Manual: Applicants must possess: Degree: behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position. OR Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. OR Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated that the applicant has acquired knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field. This position is covered by the Department of Defense Priority Placement and Alternate Placement Programs. Certain incentives (such as Recruitment, Relocation or Student Loan Repayment) may be authorized to eligible selectees. A relocation incentive is generally a single payment intended to offset some of the relocation costs experienced by the selectee. A relocation incentive may be authorized. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if the selectee fails to meet the pre-employment requirements, including failure to report to any of the scheduled appointments. Commute area is defined as the geographic area surrounding the duty location in which people can reasonably be expected to travel back and forth daily. Military spouses and family members who are appointed may not extend longer than 2 months following the transfer of the sponsor from the commuting area of the foreign duty station; 2 months beyond the separation of the appointee's sponsor; or any time beyond the time employee ceases to be a family member.
