Candidate needs to be located within an hour of San Jose or San Francisco area. Position will work remotely out of their home, but will travel to clients in the Northern California area. Clients include Tesla, Food & Beverage companies, Pharmaceutical companies, and Aerospace companies.
The Associate Service Engineer will be primarily responsible for preventative maintenance requirements that FANUC is obligated to provide when they sell a robot to a client. This is more of a proactive service to ensure issues don't come up down the line with these robots, which then turn into Service Calls. They don't want their Service Engineers to do preventative maintenance as they want these Service Engineers available for reactive Service Calls that come in.
This person will provide FANUC's clients with on site repair, troubleshooting, programming or maintenance services for FANUC Robots and related system peripheral equipment. The Associate Service Engineer will report into the Rochester Hills office (Brian Garry is Mgr). This person must be able to travel to a customer site on moment’s notice to perform preventative maintenance, troubleshooting and repair functions. Assignments may involve long hours, night, weekend, and holiday work. Air travel is sometimes required. Upon the completion of the call a Service Report describing the problem, the corrective action and detailing the labor, material and travel expense costs is provided to the customer and then returned to Rochester Hills for processing.
Specific Job Duties:
• Troubleshooting, repair, maintenance, and preventative maintenance of FANUC Robots and controllers, electrical control devices, and peripheral equipment
• Electrical troubleshooting would entail looking at schematics, troubleshooting control panels, and checking voltage readings
• Mechanical troubleshooting would entail tear downs of certain parts of robot to replace parts
• Preventative maintenance (this is a service FANUC offers to all clients to be performed on those robots that clients buy) include replacing grease & lubricants, inspection of robot (moving robot around), and doing software backups on the robot
• At times may have to provide telephone based troubleshooting through the Hotline to support customer’s in resolving FANUC America or related peripheral equipment operational problems
• Documenting FANUC products and related peripheral equipment performance and failure modes
• Daily reporting to Service Management to update status & availability
• Completion of a Service Report for each customer call
• Maintenance of a service tool kit to facilitate rapid customer response
• Return of parts shipped for the service call but not purchased by the customer or defective parts replaced under warranty
• Provide informal on-site training to customers employees to improve the customers’ ability to effectively operate, troubleshoot, and maintain the FANUC robot and related peripheral equipment
• Collection of data as part of a failure investigation for reoccurring problems that may be the result of a product design or manufacture error
• Robot and system programming and path editing of FANUC robots and related peripheral equipment to restore, maintain or optimize system performance
