POSITION SUMMARY
As Alternate Paint Technician you will prepare, mix and inspect powder paints for proper paint application on office products and office furniture by applying high-quality standards and partnering with other manufacturing cells, to ensure product meets internal and external customer and quality standards. You will assist with technical areas as it relates to the Paint system, paint guns, settings and adjustments in the absence of the Paint Technician.
The position will flex between production operations and the technician role on an as needed basis.
This full-time position reports directly to the Production Supervisor and is located at Safco's manufacturing plant in Milford, IA.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Backfill Paint Technician responsibilities in his/her absence to include and understand:Prepare and inspect powder paints for proper paint application on product and componentsApply paints per manufacturing specificationsFollow all principles and practices of paint applicationsOperate and maintain paint booth system and observe gauges and equipment operations to detect defectsPerform preventative maintenance on paint equipment and paint work area.Ensure accurate dispensing and labeling of color lab paint samples.Ensure that all components are produced/coated efficiently with high quality standardAdhere to safety guidelines and procedures and identifyTroubleshoot issues that may occur within the paint booth systemUnderstand and follow procedures dealing with parts flow and manufacturing processMentor new and existing team members on painting techniquePerform daily monitoring of wash and waste treatment systems and document all readings.Adhere to safety guidelines and procedures and identifyUnderstand and follow procedures dealing with parts flow and manufacturing processAssist with technical training or new painters.Perform daily monitoring of wash and waste treatment systems and document all readings.Implement and update procedures to ensure the paint line system operates within environmental regulations.Maintain Reverse Osmosis and waste treatment systems to the company standards.Maintain waste streams and file required documentation.Perform and maintain burnoff system. Keep up 5S standards.Job responsibilities for current Painter position to include painting, staging paint, inspecting for quality and also could include staging, unloading and loading parts onto the paint line.Other duties as assigned.REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
High school diploma or GED1-2 years of proven experience and knowledge of powder paint and maintaining paint equipmentAbility to understand basic mechanical and manufacturing techniquesFamiliarity with environmental regulations and waste treatment practicesMust be able to distinguish colors since the job involves color inspectionStrong troubleshooting and problem-solving skillsBasic computer knowledge and ability to operate a computer and access programs, make transactions, and solve simple computer functions.Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment.Strong verbal and written communication skillsStrong attention to detailPREFERRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS
Prior work experience with JDE/Oracle in a manufacturing environment is preferredChemistry background or knowledge is plusPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
