Senior Web Developer
The Senior Web Developer position assists the Web Services team in the development of the public facing http://www.suu.edu website, specifically with programming advanced interactivity and functionality. The position reviews code and coaches the other developers to innovate and improve systems while maintaining proper standards. The Senior Web Developer works collaboratively with the Director of Web Services to plan the direction of the website.
Duties and Responsibilities:
• Web application planning, development, and code review for the http://www.suu.edu site.
• Collaboration with Web Services team and other key stakeholder departments.
• Assist in day-to-day maintenance of the http://www.suu.edu website.
• Performance and optimization review of website systems
• Personal development and skill building
• Review http://suu.edu for timeliness and accuracy of content.
• Train and advise departmental/unit web liaisons on web site best practices and maintenance.
Additional Duties:
• Other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience Requirements:
Minimum Qualifications:
• 6 years recent web development/programming experience and a Bachelor's degree (or near completion of a bachelor's degree, one semester away) in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field.
• Strong understanding of HTML and CSS.
• Strong understanding of Section 508 and WCAG Accessibility compliance rules and laws.
• Proficiency with programming languages and programming fundamentals.
• Ability to work cordially with other university personnel.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Ability to work on concurrent projects and prioritize projects to use time effectively.
Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience working with Cascade CMS backend and administrator functions.
• Experience coding in Velocity.
• Experience with Git.
• Experience with APIs.
