To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building the sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the Lunar Surface.As part of a hardworking team of diverse engineers, you will work as a Senior Systems Engineer on the Systems Engineering team for the lunar lander system as the responsible engineer for vehicle safety analysis. You will be responsible for performing and coordinating safety analyses for the vehicle per the processes defined by the program's Safety and Mission Assurance Lead. You will be responsible for producing safety analysis, performing functional and safety requirements definition, working with subsystem Responsible Engineers to identify hazard controls and mitigations in the vehicle design, supporting integration, verification, and validation. You should expect that this foundational part of our vision will require your excellent communication and teamwork.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Perform and lead engineering activities including Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Hazard Reports, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), reliability analysis, and developing mitigation plansDevelop plans and coordinate completion of system and subsystem safety analysis, providing review, guidance, and expertise of safety analysis productsEnsure traceability between system and subsystem functions, requirements, and safety artifactsSupport verification and validation of safety and reliability requirementsMentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers across the program and companyCollaborate across Lunar Systems Engineers to develop best practices and find opportunities for common processes across projectsMinimum QualificationsB.S. degree in aerospace engineering, systems engineering, or related field8+ years of Systems Engineering experience performing activities such as requirements definition, requirements traceability, functional decomposition, integration, verification, and validationExperience with performing safety analyses on space systems including one of the following: Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Functional Hazard Assessments (FHAs), Hazard Reports, Failure Modes Effects and Criticality Analyses (FMECA), reliability analysis, and mitigation plansAbility to lead and coordinate safety analysis products across stakeholders and experts from varying engineering fields to produce safety and reliability productsExcellent written, verbal, and interpersonal skills, and ability to communicate technical information effectivelyAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.Preferred QualificationsExperience with performing verification of safety and reliability requirements and artifactsExperience performing compliance assessment of system safety processes and products against external standards including Range Safety, NASA, FAA, MIL-STD-882, or ARP-4761Experience with systems engineering tools for requirements management and modeling, such as JAMA and CameoE
