About Director, Data Privacy Officer

  Description

  The Data Privacy Officer will be responsible for the driving the vision, strategy, and ongoing development and maintenance of the US data privacy program in accordance with applicable laws. They will provide strategic and proactive direction regarding existing and emerging privacy and data protection laws, both in the US and abroad.

  Duties & Responsibilities

  Articulates a strategic vision for a comprehensive US data privacy program that will proactively support organizational objectives and outcomes.

  Drives the ongoing evolution and development of a strategic and comprehensive US data privacy program, including appropriate policies and procedures, to enable consistent, effective data privacy practices, minimize privacy risk, and ensure the confidentiality of personal data.

  Manages team of US data privacy professionals, US data privacy budget, and oversees the management of all US data privacy third party support.

  Serves as Chair of US Data Privacy Steering Committee.

  Serve as member of Global Data Protection Officer Advisory Board.

  Responsible for overseeing the ongoing implementation and maintenance of data privacy technologies that automate US data privacy program elements.

  Ensure privacy forms, policies, standards, and procedures are up-to-date and compliant with laws applicable to the organization.

  Ensures company has and maintains appropriate privacy and confidentiality consents, authorization forms, and information notices and materials.

  Work closely with IT, Security, Information Governance, eDiscovery, and other individuals with privacy and data handling responsibilities in the company, setting strategy and developing approaches to complex privacy matters.

  Participate in the development, implementation, and ongoing compliance monitoring of all facets of the privacy program, including privacy risk assessment/analysis, mitigation, and remediation when needed.

  Develop privacy training materials and other communications to increase employee understanding of company privacy policies, data handling practices, and legal obligations. Oversee, direct, deliver, or ensure delivery of initial privacy training and orientation to all employees and other stakeholders. Conduct ongoing privacy training and awareness activities.

  Manages all required US breach determination and notification processes under appliable regulations and requirements.

  Oversees and handles escalation of data privacy related terms in third party agreements, including the ongoing development and maintenance of templates and playbooks in collaboration for the US Commercial Contracting team.

  Strategically identify key stakeholders and establish a vision of success tied to larger organizational and global goals. Engage in operational management, people influence and leadership, knowledge sharing, and enabling team members to look beyond the tactical to take account of connections to the greater whole.

  Requirements

  Law degree, Master's degree, or other advanced degree in a related field (e.g., regulatory/healthcare compliance) preferred

  Privacy Professional certification preferred (CIPP/US, CIPP/M, CIPP/EU, etc.)

  At least 10 years of experience in the privacy profession, including time in or advising pharmaceutical companies on healthcare privacy-related activities

  In-depth knowledge of global privacy laws related to the pharmaceutical industry

  Experience with building and implementing a privacy program preferred

  Prior management experience: candidate should have strong people management and development experience/skills

  Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within an organization with senior leaders

  Excellent oral and written communication skills

  Remote*: This position is considered remote based

  Compensation Data

  This position offers a base salary typically between $228,000 and $350,000.  The position may be eligible for a role specific variable or performance based bonus and or other compensation elements.  For an overview of our benefits please click here.   Eligibility Requirements

  Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without restriction.

  Must be willing to take a drug test and post-offer physical (if required)

  Must be 18 years of age or older
