The position of Senior Systems Engineer will be based out of our Dallas, TX location!
Summary
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for helping create and manage the environments that will set the stage for the next-generation platform that will be scalable, reliable, and highly responsive. Responsible for being at the forefront of designing and improving our critical business platforms, as well as working on scalable distributed systems projects that are reliable and distributed globally.
What You'll Do
Provides hands-on system administration, software installation, deployment activities of Windows Operating systems
Participates in proactive monitoring and support to maintain the health of the global server environment, including regular software and firmware patching
Prioritizes and works through tasks received, through direct requests and ticketing system
Partners with the application teams to design and implement the company’s production, test, development, and load test environments
Collaborates with other professionals to ensure high quality deliverables within organization guidelines, policies, and procedures
Deals with work process, optimization methods, and risk management tools in the given projects for the successful accomplishments according to the requirements of the stakeholders
Ensures the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability
Designs and maintains the DR server environment
Participates in on-call rotations and after production hours work as needed
Writes scripts for system administration and operational tasks
Writes thorough and accurate technical documentation for use by the operations and production support staff
Plans and implements system automation as required for better efficiency
Administers external DNS and SSL certificate management
Other duties as assigned

What You'll Need
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Computer science degree or equivalent work experience
VMWARE, or Microsoft Certification
8+ years of experience in Operating system administration supporting large scale web and eCommerce sites
Experienced with Apache & IIS
Experience with data architecture, system security
VMWare Experience
Strong hands-on experience in managing many mission-critical servers
Experience with monitoring applications, preferably Nagios
Proficient Shell scripting experience with at least one of the following: Powershell, Perl, puppet, BASH, KSH
Experience with HP x86 based server hardware
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated abilities in automated patch and configuration management
Working knowledge of SAN environments, AD, DNS, storage deployment methodologies, kernel Tuning
Strong working knowledge of Enterprise storage systems such as Hitachi, high availability concepts, and backup methodologies and systems
Thorough understanding of Internet protocols such as HTTP, DNS, and TCP
Ability to recognize critical production and client-facing issues and identify root cause and resolve them in a timely manner
Ability to communicate at all levels within IT and the various Business Units
Ability to work independently and within a team, own issues and solve them to customer satisfaction
Strong decision-making, technical, analytical, and organizational skills,
Attention to detail
Knowledge of systems engineering software tools
