Description:
The Senior Systems Engineer is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the design, implementation, support, security compliance, and disaster recovery of our clients enterprise virtualization, server (physical and virtual), virtual desktops, and storage (SAN) infrastructure. In addition, this position will oversee and manage the enterprise email messaging system and automated patching system. This position assigns and oversees the daily work activities of the virtualization, storage, and server System Engineer(s) in conjunction with the AVP, Technical Services and team lead.
• Demonstrated knowledge and success with:
• virtualization strategies and concepts to include datacenter and DR/BCP
• enterprise grade products to include: VMware vSphere Data Center and Cloud, VMware NSX, VMware Horizon, VMware vRealize, Cohesity Backup and Recovery, Cisco Unified Computing System, Storage Area Networks (Pure, Nimble)
• Strong understanding of core infrastructure (DNS, DHCP, Active Directory, SSL)
• familiarity with private cloud (Azure) virtual infrastructure, principles, concepts and industry best practices
• VMware server and desktop virtualization
• enterprise grade Storage Area Networks (SAN)
• Microsoft Server systems administration including Active Directory and Microsoft Exchange on-premises or online
• security strategies and practices related to our client’s technology infrastructure
• scripting and automation tools such as Windows Powershell
• Linux OS (Red Hat) knowledge preferred

Provides technical support assessment for complex projects and project plan development in support of our client’s requirements. Subject matter expert and team lead in projects requiring systems infrastructure technical leadership including:
a. Re-architecture of existing Disaster Recovery (DR) Colo services and infrastructure
b. Implementation of storage snapshot replication
c. Implementation of Cohesity IaaS services in private cloud and reevaluation of backup policies
d. Evaluation of tools like Zerto to enhance current DR capabilities along with DRaaS or VMware on Azure to replace current Colo facility
e.
Familiarity and experience with O365 services including: Azure Active Directory, Exchange Online, Teams, One Drive, Sharepoint, Office 365.
Assesses performance, reliability and integrity of our client’s virtual, server, and storage infrastructure to ensure it meets the present and future needs of the business. Provides short-term and long-term systems infrastructure planning recommendations to management.
Deploys, maintain, and enhance the security of virtual, server, storage and virtual desktop systems through administrative, preventive, detective, and reactive controls, such as change and configuration management, patch management, and vulnerability scanning in accordance with company and divisional security directives. Adheres to approved technology and security standards and development of baseline configurations in accordance with these standards.
Oversees the maintenance of current and complete documentation of systems infrastructure
