Summary of Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Full-time, twelve-month tenure-track Assistant Professor position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for didactic and clinical instruction in the nurse anesthesia specialty within the DNP Program in the School of Nursing and Health Professions. Candidates will be expected to demonstrate a commitment to scholarship and service as well as excellence in teaching.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver instructional content for the education of nurse anesthesia students, during didactic and clinical (simulation) portions of assigned courses
Utilize evaluation tools and processes to assign grades to students for evaluation of satisfactory participation and performance on clinical simulation activities
Evaluate and assess current educational needs of students and participate in the revision of curriculum as needed in conjunction with Program Administrator for your assigned courses
Serve as DNP project advisor and mentor for nurse anesthesia students
Provide written summaries of each student’s performance at the end of each semester and forward to the Program Administrator
Assist in delivery of didactic material via interactive TV for nurse anesthesia students
Proctor exams of nurse anesthesia students for assigned courses
Maintain an open line of communication with the Program Administrator in matters concerning didactic and clinical progression of the anesthesia students
Maintain open communication with students in your courses. Answer emails and texts from students and return phone calls within 24 hours of receipt
Attends all required safety training programs and can describe his/her responsibilities related to general safety, department/service safety, specific job related hazards, and national patient safety goals
Attend regular program meetings with the DNP Nurse Anesthesia Program Administrator
Assists Program Administrator in managing the administrative and programmatic functions of the Program by serving as resource for questions and any suggestions for improvement of content and/or process.
Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Requirements:
Doctorate in Nursing required.
Minimum Experience and Skill Requirements:
Current RN and APRN CRNA license. Must have attained or be eligible for licensure in Kentucky. BLS , PALS and ACLS required.
