Join the Cosmic team and help us build and improve our global scale, Kubernetes based service platform for Microsoft productivity apps and services. As part of the M365 Substrate organization, we enable internal partner teams to create, deploy, and manage compliant and high-quality solutions with less effort and faster time to market. Cosmic is our newest service platform that hosts Windows and Linux container services on Kubernetes clusters.

　　We are looking for a passionate, self-driven, and experienced Senior Software Engineer who can innovate on developer agility and safety for our platform. You will develop robust and automated systems to keep our platform infrastructure current and healthy, and create systems that empower partners to safely make changes to their services. You will need to identify and implement improvements to our current system, design features to meet business objectives, explore and adopt new technologies and industry standards, and collaborate with various teams across Microsoft.

　　In this role, you will work with a team of talented and motivated developers, learn and use cutting-edge technology like Kubernetes and its related components, and have a significant impact on hundreds of critical Microsoft services running on the Cosmic platform.

　　Responsibilities

　　Design and deliver resilient, scalable, and secure systems to achieve business and service outcomes.

　　Support and improve the live site experience of our service platform, by debugging, troubleshooting, analyzing data, and being on call.

　　Enhance the reliability and capabilities of our service platform by writing, testing, and deploying code fixes and new platform features.

　　Mentor and support early in career team members, and help them grow their skills and effectiveness.

　　Influence the overall architecture of our service platform by sharing and contributing your architectural ideas and insights.

　　Qualifications

　　Required/Minimum Qualifications

　　Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, or related technical discipline AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

　　OR equivalent experience.

　　3+ years of experience with distributed systems delivering large-scale, secure, and resilient cloud services.

　　2+ years experience with technical design, architecture, problem solving, and debugging skills.

　　Additional or Preferred Qualifications

　　Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

　　OR Master's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

　　OR equivalent experience.

　　2+ years of experiences with open-source projects, Kubernetes, Linux and containers.

　　Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $112,000 - $218,400 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $145,800 - $238,600 per year.
