About Senior Software Development Engineer, Firewall Manager Service

  Description

  Join us in an exciting new project that leverages AI to help customers improve the security of their AWS configuration. This project is a novel application of AI that goes beyond current industry standards.

  As a lead developer, the Senior SDE will be instrumental in designing, implementing, and delivering critical components of our advanced security management system. This role holds significant influence over the entire development lifecycle, shaping how we design, develop, build, deploy, and support this cutting-edge AWS service. The SDE will contribute to advancing security techniques, defending some of the Internet’s largest businesses from malicious actors and requests.

  Key job responsibilities

  Design and implement key features of the security management system using Rust and/or Java

  Lead and influence teams of developers to deliver global, highly available, and scalable services.

  Apply advanced security techniques to enhance the system's defenses.

  Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate AI technology into the security management process.

  Translate customer security goals into service configurations using the Cedar language.

  A day in the life

  As a Senior SDE, you'll be at the forefront of our advanced security management system, driving the design, implementation, and delivery of critical components.

  About the team

  Our team works collaboratively to design, implement, and operate solutions to challenging problems. We are a group of software and security engineers who are excited to help our customers achieve their security goals easily when using AWS. We work closely with our Product Management and Design teams, and with customers and our customer field teams, including Solutions Architects, Technical Account Managers, and sales and marketing specialists. We share our ideas and learn from each other regularly, and continuously seek to improve our products and practices.

  We are open to hiring candidates to work out of one of the following locations:

  Seattle, WA, USA

  Basic Qualifications

  5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

  Preferred Qualifications

  5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience

  Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

  Use of GenAI technology in a production environment

  Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $134,500/year in our lowest geographic market up to $261,500/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
