Let’s do this. Let’s change the world. In this vital role you will be a part of Amgen’s Induced Proximity Platform (IPP) organization. The IPP team is focused on developing novel drug modalities that use proximity biology to go after challenging drug targets in diverse therapeutic areas, such as Oncology, Cardiometabolic disorders and Inflammation. The Target Evaluation group in IPP is seeking a motivated Senior Scientist to work closely with the Inflammation group and support early discovery work evaluating therapeutic targets for IPP modalities such as heterobifunctional molecules and molecular glues. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with teams within IPP to broaden our understanding of emerging IPP technologies and their application.
Responsibilities:
Set project goals and timelines, design, perform, and analyze experiments to evaluate novel inflammation targets and establish a differentiating strategy for an IPP modality.
Experimentally validate emerging IPP tools and technologies and their application.
Interact with IPP team members and members across different departments and research sites and communicate and present data to department leadership.
Contribute results and participate in the writing of manuscripts for publication.

Basic Qualifications:
Doctorate degree (and relevant post-doc where applicable)
Or
Master’s degree and 3 years of Immunology experience
Or
Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of Immunology experience
And
Advanced and proficient understanding and use of technical principles, theories, and concepts to perform an expansive range of work in a role
And
Basic knowledge of related and adjacent disciplinary areas.
Preferred Qualifications:
A PhD degree in an immunology-related field.
Understanding of the ubiquitin proteasome system is preferred.
Expertise in T cell, myeloid, and B cell biology is essential.
Strong technical skills or expertise in inflammation related functional assays.
Experience with standard cell and molecular biology experimental design and techniques such as cell culture, lentiviral production, stable cell line generation, western blot, and qPCR.
Experience with gene knockdown techniques such siRNA, shRNA or CRISPR.
Experience with multi-color flow cytometry and high throughput assays such as CTG, HiBiT, or live cell imaging techniques such as Incucyte.
A track record of scientific achievement, supported by publications and/or significant contributions to a drug discovery program.
Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Flexibility to work in teams to achieve changing project goals and meet timelines.
Strong data analysis and independent critical thinking skills.
