  Your Specific Responsibilities:

  This position provides professional public health nutrition counseling to WIC participants that requires independent judgment in a Clinical setting.

  Assesses anthropometric and dietary data to determine eligibility for the WIC Program in accordance with state and federal policies and regulations stated in DHM 150-24. Provides nutrition counseling to WIC participants and documents in FL-WiSE. Assess immunization status of WIC children. Provides referrals to other health care and social service programs, as needed. Develops, monitors, evaluates, and revises nutrition care plans for high-risk clients. Discusses clients progress with other professionals, as needed. Provides nutrition counseling to patients receiving medical care in Family Practice as needed.

  Provides breastfeeding support to pregnant and postpartum women.

  Maintain records, generate and monitors WIC reports, to promote quality assurance. Monitor and reconcile WIC inventories.

  Assures scheduling of follow-up counseling sessions. Performs anthropometric duties to include hemoglobin as needed.

  Complete the process for client with Direct Distribution as needed, using the WIC Formula Reference Guide along with following procedures outlined in DHM 150-25. As needed; calculate formula usage and amount allowable per USDA. Orders special formula using FL WIC state contract procedure. Process/reconcile invoices for special formula following procedures outlined in DHM 150-25. Complies with and monitors compliance of the mandatory requirements in Section 215.422, Florida Statute and Chapter 3A-24, Florida Administrative Code (prompt payment requirement).

  Participates in outreach activities for the CHD as needed. Ensures the integrity/confidentiality of all data sets in the program; complies with the information security protocols and procedures (DOHP 50-10-16); security and privacy of client information is maintained; disclosure of confidential information is released only after proper authorization has been obtained; and information that is exempt from public record disclosure is maintained in a confidential manner.

  Performs other duties as assigned.

  Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Knowledge of the current science and practice of nutrition or dietetics. Knowledge of the methods of compiling, organizing, and analyzing data. Knowledge of nutritional and dietary assessment techniques. Ability to prepare and maintain records and reports. Ability to plan and conduct a nutrition program or project. Ability to analyze and interpret anthropometric, biochemical, dietary, and clinical data. Ability to apply educational plans and materials. Ability to develop educational/training techniques to learning. Ability to develop educational/training plans and supporting materials. Ability to use various communication channels to provide educational/training. Ability to identify needs and develop programs or projects to meet the needs of the community or patient group(s).

  Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities. Ability to Communicate effectively to convey information (verbally and writing) to others. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Skills and ability to proficiently use Microsoft Word. PowerPoint and Excel.

  Qualifications:

  Minimum This occupation requires the ability to meet the requirements outlined in Chapter 468, Part X, Florida Statutes, or be eligible to practice dietetics in accordance with Chapter 64B8-40 to 45, Florida Administrative Code and/or Registration as a dietitian as defined by the American Dietetic Association Licensure as a Dietitian/Nutritionist IAW Chapter 468.

  Incumbent may be required to work before, during and/or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in special needs or Red Cross shelters, or performing other emergency duties including, but not limited to, responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, man-made or natural, must be able to lift 20 lbs, Valid Driver’s License.
