About Senior Program Manager, Localization, AWS Intelligent Knowledge Experience & Tech

  Description

Are you passionate about languages and translation? Do you love finding creative solutions to challenging problems? Does working with cutting edge translation and generative AI technologies excite you? Come join us!

AWS Intelligent Knowledge Experience and Tech (IKExT) team is seeking an experienced Sr. Program Manager to help define best-in-class localization experience for our customers. You will define business and technical requirements, execute projects, manage vendor relationship, drive engineering roadmap, and also understand the impact of your proposals on knowledge experience and wider AWS Global Services customers . You will work closely with vendor, engineering, applied science, and business leaders to set strategy, define priorities, and make the hard, high-judgment trade-offs between features and time-to-market.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced team, and is truly a cross-functional role where you’ll have significant responsibility and the ability to drive AWS worldwide growth via technology.

  Key job responsibilities

The ideal candidate will be passionate about the large opportunity that our services presents, with a track record of success in delivering products and services. They have a solid judgement of one-way vs. two-way door decisions and will have an affinity towards iterating fast and releasing often. We are looking for a strong leader who have a strong track record of balancing innovative thinking with a strong customer and quality focus.

  • Lead end-to-end simple to complex localization projects including technical knowledge articles, user generated content, machine-generated content, and customer support content, etc.

  • Own, redefine, and redefine the translation mechanism to optimize the translation cost

  • Manage localization scope, schedules, and budget

  • Manage linguistic quality processes to ensure that the localized content meets or exceeds expectations

  • Manage localization vendor relationships, including in-project support as needed

  • Manage localization success metrics and deliver monthly business reports on current status including initiatives, risks, volumes, costs, quality, trends, etc.

  • Support language expansion plans to existing products

  • Work closely with product and program management teams to evangelize internationalization and localization best practices and develop product-specific localization plans

  • Work with internal customers and partners to understand and address localization pain points, streamline content hand-off processes, and to seek technology solutions for translation needs

  A day in the life

In this role you will have daily interaction with a wide spectrum of people, including content authors, product managers, developers, technical writers, customer support agents, in-country team members, and localization vendors. You will evangelize localization best practices, solve process issues, answer queries from both product groups and localization vendors, handle localization hand-offs and hand-backs, and manage SIMs. You will also develop product localization strategies, ensure linguistic quality, help automate manual processes, and deliver monthly business reports containing metrics such as word count volumes, localization costs per word, linguistic quality scores, etc.
