The Compression Systems Engineering (CSE) organization is seeking a Senior Principal Structures Engineer to join the military Fan and HPC teams. This position will provide opportunities to apply your engineering judgement and leadership skills, as well as using your creativity and critical thinking skills in different phases of the design analysis process. This role offers growth opportunities to become a future CSE discipline Chief or Fellow.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide structural technical expertise to various members of different military CIPTs in areas of fan and compressor strength, durability, damage tolerance, vibrations, aeromechanics and probabilistic analysis as well as help to train and coach engineers in area of expertise.
Support critical technical issues across programs and provide additional leadership for method/tool/Engineering Standard Work (ESW) improvements.
Provide vibration, fatigue & fracture mechanics expertise to support internal & external customers on structural engineering of new designs, engine development plans, and production / field issues.
Coach, review, and oversee work to lower level professionals. Influences others regarding policies, practices & procedures as well as attend and have participation in group meetings, teleconferences and/or training required.
Develops and implements new products, processes, standards or operational plans that will have impact on the achievement of functional results.
Actively participate in initiatives for continuous improvement using CORE tools and support AS9100 certification efforts; become a CORE Champion.
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelor Degree in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or in a related Engineering degree and 10+ years of prior relevant engineering experience, OR
Advanced Degree in a related field and 7+ years of prior relevant engineering experience.
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Recognized expert within discipline, having deep knowledge of theory and organizational practices within a specific discipline.
Ability to significantly improve upon existing processes and practices.
Ability to communicate effectively with executives in the business.
Able to manage moderately to large sized projects or processes.
Based on business needs, the incumbent may be required to support other duties/functions within the company.

The salary range for this role is 118,000 USD - 246,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
