Senior Microbiologist (Caldwell, ID)

Summary
This role will develop, update, and assist in implementing microbiological methodologies for Simplot Global Foods. Additionally, the incumbent will oversee the implementation of advanced testing procedures and provide technical expertise in microbiological troubleshooting to Simplot Food Production facilities.
Key Responsibilities
Oversees the company's pathogen and environment control and monitoring programs. This includes coordination of intensified monitoring program execution.
Interacts with Customers as needed (Key Accounts and National Chains) on microbiological issues. Negotiates specifications and provides technical expertise to Quality Assurance, Manufacturing facilities, Marketing, Sales, and Product Development.
Assists Sr. Laboratory Manager in key microbiological-related programs (i.e. designing and starting up new laboratories, investigation of new sanitation procedures and technologies, evaluation of advanced and rapid microbiological test methodologies.
Provide microbiological technical support to Global Food through the development of practical and accurate procedures, and by researching developing, and implementing programs and/or procedures to solve and correct microbiological-related production problems.
Develop and update microbiological specifications by implementing line capability profile studies.
Provide statistically based data assessments to support food safety decisions.
Assists lab team with conducting training for plant factory laboratories, implementing the standardization of lab programs, auditing laboratory programs, and the application of problem-solving skills to correct associated procedural and/or reporting problems.
Serves as Deputy Quality Manager for Technical Center Laboratory accreditation.
Will share responsibilities for benchtop duties to ensure efficient laboratory operations.
Reports to Sr. Manager Microbiology
Typical Education
Masters and/or Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in the biological sciences preferred
Relevant Experience
8+ years related experience and/or training
Other Information
Should have advanced knowledge of food microbiology and be able to apply to a food processing environment.
Familiarity with food manufacturing processes.
Excellent technical writer with superior communication skills.
Familiarity with LIMS, Advanced spreadsheet (power query editor, pivot tables, formulation).
