Organization & Role
The Teradyne Signal Delivery Engineering team in Agoura Hills, CA is seeking a Mechanical Engineer to contribute to a variety of Signal Delivery product development programs for our Semiconductor Test platforms and enabling technologies. The ideal candidate will create innovative and technically-sound solutions to complex component and system level mechanical challenges.
This person will work within the Signal Delivery Group which develops signal transmission solutions for High-Speed Digital, Power and RF instruments used in various Teradyne test systems. These solutions convey signals from Instrument boards through a series of connectors, cables, boards, and interposers to customers devices placed in sockets on a handler interface board or to wafers positioned inside a prober.
The ideal candidate will work across functional boundaries to define essential requirements, tradeoffs, and key technical risks. The candidate will also work with internal cross-functional product development teams and with suppliers to implement design solutions and manage cost, risk and schedule.
This person will also verify the performance and durability of our products or oversee the work of others performing those tasks.
Responsibilities
Conceptualize, select and defend technical solutions to complex and highly integrated mechanical engineering problems focused on Signal Delivery.
Develop complex, high-density electronics packaging, including specialized interconnect and contact technologies.
Work with team members to
Develop specifications, requirements, and validation plans.
Find solutions that fit within mechanical product architecture and constraints that meet customer requirements.
Develop mechanical concepts and detailed design to provide signal delivery for specific instruments and integration into overall test system.
Prototype and test signal delivery solutions, including design of mechanical test fixtures.
Define, direct, perform verification testing to ensure quality of designs.
Ensure the quality of mechanical design and documentation of components and assemblies.
Basic Qualifications & Skills
Minimum of 12 years’ experience as a mechanical design engineer
Initiative, motivation, and drive to design, engineer, analyze and test complex electromechanical systems, subsystems, and parts.
Disciplined and methodical engineering rigor and careful attention to detail
Experience with electro-mechanical packaging layout and design and performance verification and reliability testing of complex electro-mechanical systems.
Expert in design and analysis: FEA, tolerances, precision alignment, mechanical properties of materials
Considerable experience in material selection, manufacturing processes, and mechanical fabrication methods
Experience collaborating with vendors to co-develop products, evaluate innovative technologies and resolve tooling and manufacturing problems.
Excellent communication, hands-on and spatial skills.
Communication skills for effective influence with customers, internal teammates, and suppliers worldwide
Expert knowledge of SolidWorks.
Demonstrated ability in the use of general drafting and design standards including ANSI Y14.5 & GD & T.
Must be available to commute to and work on site at our office in Agoura Hills, CA.
Experience in developing semiconductor manufacturing and test equipment is a plus.
Education
BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 12 years’ experience as a Mechanical Design Engineer
