Senior Manager, Software Development
Position Summary
The BlackBerry IoT Business Unit combines BlackBerry’s core IoT assets across the company. One of the groups within the IoT Business Unit is BlackBerry Radar, which is an innovative service for managing and optimizing fleet operations for business in the transportation sector.
The BlackBerry Radar Cloud Services Development team is focused on developing asset tracking software services that will be used by businesses that rent or own railcar, chassis, trailers, and/or cargo carrying containers. The service allows customers to manage their Radar equipped fleet by providing: location tracking, a host of rich sensor readings, alerts on meaningful events, analytics, integration into other back-office systems such as transportation management systems, and much more.
In this role, you will manage and provide technical leadership to the team of Cloud engineers responsible for the development of the BlackBerry Radar Cloud Service.
Leading this team means you will work in crafting breakthrough solutions, and scalable services using modern techniques, bringing agility, and improving engineering practices. Using your extensive knowledge of web technologies and deep knowledge of high availability services, you will partner with product managers, architecture teams and customers to discover and deliver the solutions for the transportation sector.

What you will do
Lead a development team of 8-12 employees.Set and communicate team priorities that support the broader organization's goals and strategy.Set clear expectations with individuals based on their level and role and aligned to the broader organization's goals. Meet regularly with individuals to discuss performance and development and provide feedback and coaching.Oversee system designs and review developer code within your team’s domain.Ensure effective collaboration between the team and stakeholders.Drive team performance and continue to foster an environment of continuous improvement.What we need you to bring
7+ years of experience working on web technologies (e.g. AWS, microservices, JavaScript, Node.js, React, Docker, Git, Jenkins)3+ years of experience in a people management or team leadership roleExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsA high degree of motivation, sense of urgency, and ability coach, motivate, lead, and energize a team of software developers with varying levels of experience.Engineering or Computer Science degreeIf you are open to a new challenge and a role where you can make an impact, we would love to hear from you!
